what are our predictions here? I’d say 0-0 or 1-1 with us having the lions share of possession and Maher celebrating that fact that our unbeaten run continues.

Aside from the Oldham loss, Boston don’t concede many, and have only narrowly lost by a single goal recently.

I’m going for a tight 1-0 win for us. it won’t be pretty, but we’ll grind out a victory with a disciplined performance.

With our postponement and losing Bim, I think a few have forgotten that we are actually in some really good form. I really liked Bim but we aren't a one man team, we've been on that run as a collective. We can't just throw the towel in because one player has left.

I think Coughlan has gone back to basics and put them into a 4-4-2. If that is the case, we will have an extra man in midfield, it should play into our hands nicely.

People won't like it, but I think he'll go for Bonne and Kendall. Bonne is the closest player we have to a target man. Despite his lack of goals, he does actually work hard and work the spaces well. I'm hoping that opens up spaces for Kendall to be our finisher. We will have the ball more in this game so I feel like a return to league action for Morton is required.

Good luck to those shrimpers travelling and bring back those 3 points ready for Saturday. Utb!
Waldron is a finisher, he has not been given a fair chance imo.
Could be down to what he does in training. Some players are crap in training but brilliant on game day. One example from his own admission is Jimmy Greaves!
Could also name Rodney Marsh, Stan Bowles and many more.

Agree with this. It’s not all about what happens in training IMO. Can’t imagine Kevin Pietersen was good in training. Also why you don’t judge on one or two games as if Kev was himself he’d never have got going.

If we don’t win is Kev back under pressure again?
One result shouldn’t change anything. We could win 5-0 tonight and whilst that would be a great result, the concerns I have about him will remain. It will take a longer period of time, and for our approach on the pitch to change, before my opinion changes.

If we win tonight, we’d have won 7 of our last 10 games.

From those 10, we’d have only lost once… against the champions elect.

We’d also be 3 points off the playoffs.

Different era for those mentioned.
Stan used to enjoy a fag and a bet an hour before kick-off!
Many would say those three greats never fulfilled their potential.
Had they trained better, would they have been fitter? Greaves missed the 1966 World Cup knockout stages because of a shin cut, but he'd failed to score in the three group games.
Earlier that season, he contracted hepatitis, a well known cause being the sauce that would later bring him close to death. It left him playing catch-up.
I'm not a fan of the never-given-a-chance brigade.
It suggests a manager deliberately trying to scupper his own team's chances. If somebody is sharp, taking chances in training or in games - they get in the team: this one; and any other.

15 available players for tonight game, looks pretty weak from numbers perspective considering the average squad is round about 23/24 for team in the lower leagues. Half way through January still no signings. I know how difficult January is interms of bringing in the right quality of player in but considering Southend squad is pretty thin you would of thought there would be push to bring some players in even just few more loans. Interms of the game it's probably bore fest with 1 goal deciding the game.

Apart from Crowther and Wood - who else isn't available?
