SOUTHEND United have been handed a triple boost ahead of Wednesday night's clash at Boston United.

Right wing-back Gus Scott-Morriss and centre-back James Golding are both expected to be well enough to play after recovering from illness

And Blues' assistant head coach Darren Currie has also confirmed striker Josh Walker is likely to be available.

"Those two (Scott-Morriss and Golding) have been training and they're fine," said Currie.

"They seem to be over the worst of it and they're ready to go.

"Josh has been training too.

"That looked naughty on the day at Braintree but thankfully it was just an impact injury in the end.

"It took a few days to settle down but he's back on the grass now and raring to go as well."

The Shrimpers take on the Pilgrims having triumphed in their last three matches.

But Currie is taking nothing for granted against second from bottom Boston who are managed by Blues' former assistant manager Graham Coughlan.

"I know Graham having worked with him at Sheffield United," said Currie.

"I know what he was like as a player, a manager and a coach.

"His teams will compete and will fight hard for every ball and duel.

"They will be well organised and we'll have to match all of that.

"But we've prepared the boys the last few days, told them what the game will look like.

"If we can compete and fight in a way we're very capable of, then implement our principles and style of play onto them then we'll go into it feeling confident like we do every game."

Anyone know why it was DC and not Kev doing the rematch?

With our postponement and losing Bim, I think a few have forgotten that we are actually in some really good form. I really liked Bim but we aren't a one man team, we've been on that run as a collective. We can't just throw the towel in because one player has left.

I think Coughlan has gone back to basics and put them into a 4-4-2. If that is the case, we will have an extra man in midfield, it should play into our hands nicely.

People won't like it, but I think he'll go for Bonne and Kendall. Bonne is the closest player we have to a target man. Despite his lack of goals, he does actually work hard and work the spaces well. I'm hoping that opens up spaces for Kendall to be our finisher. We will have the ball more in this game so I feel like a return to league action for Morton is required.

Good luck to those shrimpers travelling and bring back those 3 points ready for Saturday. Utb!

what are our predictions here? I’d say 0-0 or 1-1 with us having the lions share of possession and Maher celebrating that fact that our unbeaten run continues.

Not sure it’ll happen away from home but I’d love to see a front 3 again .. Walker on the left, Bonne on the right and Kendall in the middle in Bim’s absence (Waldron to come on with some time left). Tonight I can see it being tight and scrappy. With fitness taken into account yes I’d expect Kev to start Bonne/Kendall. I’m hoping we can win, 1-0 will do. We need wins to push up the table. Head says 1-1 draw.
