Ive never made a film yet I can criticise it. Likewise, a novel or a TV show.

You can criticise it yes, but doesn't mean your criticism is correct. Im with Onion_Bag_Dave on this. If you have played football, it does help you understand the game better. For instance, a player may look like he is running aimlessly into a certain area of the pitch and there is no way he is going to get the ball. To some fans, this may seem stupid, but to others that understand the game a bit more, they understand this will draw a player of the opposing team out of position enabling another player to run into the free space created by this off the ball movement to recieve the ball unmarked. it's not all about what you are doing with the ball, it's quite often about the movement off the ball, and fans who haven't necessarily played the game can't always see this. (not saying non players wouldn't, but more likely not)

Some people understand football better than others. I get that. I don't see why it follows in the least that people able to play the game are necessarily more likely to be one of them than anyone else.

I think it's important to remember that some players do this brilliantly and some do not.

Obviously Bobby Moore as Manager was before your time.....

'More than likely' are the keywords here!

I can't be bothered to back up my point anymore.

I agree that two target men doesn't work, but saying that, we have just won 2 games in a row with them up there....we will see. Sturrock will change it if it drastically fails. It hasn't yet has it?

I don't call a penalty shoot out win a real victory.
2 clean sheets on the spin yes, now that is impressive and when the hell was the last time you could say that about our beloved team?

I do call it a victory (maybe not a real victory), especially as the lad in question 'Blair' scored the winning penalty.
Also I think the front line when we beat Bristol in the cup was Sturrock and Corr aswell, a few changes where made though.

If we are looking at stats we do have some quite inform strikers, Sturrock has scored 1, Corr has scored 2, Patterson has scored 2, Spencer scored 4 in 6 starts (last season, I count that, some might not). So technically judging by Stats our strikers are actually scoring, and going by the law of averages, that gives Sturrock about 10 goals for the season, Patterson 20, Corr 20 and Spencer about 35 ish. (hmm, will this actually happen? No, I hope so though)!

dwb what was your stance on Maher, useless player or a misunderstood player?

I really liked Maher and thought he was a good player. People always moaned about his 'crab' style of play, but what's the point playing a ball forward to someone who is being marked out of the game. Play the ball acroos the middle of the park, pass it back, move and recieve it back. Make space by moving the ball about then play the forward pass at the right time. This is what Maher was all about.

If you have played/play football at any level it is easier for you to analyse/read the game.

I disagree with your original comments, but I can't see how anyone can possibly disagree with this unless they are reading too much into it ( which is quite possible owing to your orignal comment which you have backtracked from)

Good, I haven't really backtracked, I've just expanded I suppose, when I realised that people obviously thought I was being an idiotic ****!

Won one Drawn one, who progressed to the next round was decided by penalties not the result of the game

We didn't win in 90 minutes no, but to get to the next round of the cup you have to win, and we did. Whether its on penalties or not, we still won the game. The players kept their nerve on the penalties, especially Blair. We actually also deserved to win the game because we slightly shaded it. We also won against Bristol with them there and drew against Stockport and only just lost to Aldershot. Something must be working because bar the Port Vale game, which I didn't go to, we have performed quite well seeing as it is a squad of 18 new players.
Maybe I'm just not being critical enough...

So you're disagreeing with our manager who said he blasted the players in the dressingroom after as the performance was rubbish.

Spot on...

If Tilson had stayed and signed Corr & Sturrock jnr then at least 3/4 of the support would be ripping up their season tickets, starting Tilson Out campaigns and other various negative actions.

Well we all know that wouldn't have happened.

He would have gotten them on 1 month loans.

Brazil are going to be furious when you let them know they've only "won" 4 World Cups. And I personally can't wait to find out who will really win between the obviously on-going game between Italy and France.

Sorry Dave, I know you're not having a good day on here, but I have to say that you're figures don't add up. Take the first one for example, Sturrock has played 7 and scored 1. So to score 10, judging as you say by the stats, he would have to play 70 games this season.
If Blair Sturrock scores 10 or more this season, I promise to have the same silly perm that Spencer had.

What I meant was he's played 4 in the league, not sure if he has started them all either.
I was taking minutes into account not really appearances, It still could be wrong though. Who knows.
I personally think my day on here is good.

EDIT - But so do a lot of other people who talk complete rubbish all day, so I could be wrong.
