Two things. 1. Never accept a first offer. 2. If subsequent offers are up to scratch then be sure to negotiate an appropriate sell-on clause.

I'm not decrying Peterborough, but in reality they aren't much of a step up. They will be relegated with ease this season, they've sold MacKail-Smith and by all accounts Boyd & Lewis will be on their way.

As far as the family relationship goes then absolutely not, wasn't Kane quoted as saying that he's a very distant cousin of Rio & Anton Ferdinand and has never had contact with them? And I reckon Ferguson Sr has bigger fish to fry than tipping his son the wink about 4th division players who may have a tenuous family link with one of his players.

Not sure about all that at all, don't under estimate Posh this season, I think Ferguson Jnr has learn't a lot in the last 2 years.

I also wonder why the old man hasn't loaned him a couple of Man Utd youngsters ? They obviously rate Kane very highly to be putting cash on the table for such an inexperienced player, I would have thought there are many Premierships youngsters going out on loan to Championship sides this season.

He has... why dont people check before posting?! :raspberry:

It's difficult.

For the club, a league 2 club with financial problems, a decent size fee plus future add ons for one very promising player surely it is a no brainer, we should be taking the money.

For Kane it is a harder decision, he can stay a probably play most of the matched this season or go up the league structure and not play many games. Will he get better coaching and advice if he goes to Posh?

As long as he is happy here, he should stay a while longer, maybe going in the January window or even this time next year and hopefully for a much larger fee.

I'm not underestimating Posh, but going by how porous their defence was last season and the better standard of striker in the CCC, they are going to be in for a very hard time. I think they have take at least one player on load from Man Ure, and yes there will be loads of Premiership kids going out on loan.

We did this with Barnard and I feel that was the final nail in the coffin for our status at that time. We got relegated because of selling Barnard. Had we kept him, I really don't think we would have been relegated.

Hard one that, I would have thought from that angle he would be better off staying with Sturrock this season, however he will increase his wages at Posh and have them paid on time :winking:

He is still very much learning his trade. I don't think he will get a game every week, even at Posh, and they are only gonna yoyo back to L1 next season. He may as well stay here, get games under his belt and play in L1 with us next season.

No guarantee he'll be a regular here either. We have other options. At the moment if the fee was as reported I'd do the deal. He had a fair season last and he's only a teen, he may improve this year. He may not.

As others have said - reluctantly, if the next offer is over £400k then, with a decent sell-on (min 20%), we'd probably be foolish not to take it. Grant or N'Diyae could do Kane's job (although, I suspect, neither would do it as well or with as minimum an amount of fuss).

For £300k, I'd drive Kane there myself.

That would cover the players wages for about 3 months!

We got relegated because we had one centre half on the books and were conceeding three goals per game.

I'm not so sure about that, Peterborough will struggle and IMO will be relegated with some ease. They've sold MacKail-Smith and it's rumoured that Joe Lewis & George Boyd will be sold. They've also let Lee & Whelpdale go to Gillingham, although they weren't regulars last season. Peterborough need to start being proactive in the transfer market otherwise they'll be relegated by Christmas.

I don't think that Ferdinand would benefit by going to a club that will struggle. I'm not saying we shouldn't sell him, but if there's interest or a potential auction let's get the asking price and also add ons up.

Relegated by Christmas is something we hear people say a lot... but I was just wondering... when was the last time that a team in modern English pro football actually got relegated by the time the season of good will to all men came a calling? I reckon never.

Isn't it just West Brom that avoided that stat recently from the start of the Prem?

So West Brom don't count anyway. I'd say modern pro footy would go back much further than the start of the Prem. Back to the late 70's or early 80's at least. Even with that in mind, were any teams relegated come the season of joy? I doubt even Orient, Northampon or Swansea managed such a shameful season when they crashed out of the top flight. I might be wrong though.

Anyway... way off topic.
