Do not think we intend to sell- and if Peterborough really wanted him they should have come in earlier not just before the season starts. Really think the mindset is at the moment lets get out of this league based on keeping our key players for now. Remember we rejected 150-200k offer for Mohsni in Jan so I dont think we are in a position where we roll over where we just get a decent bid (happily)

We didn't sell moussa and Kights did we? Kights was released (wrong!) and Moussa left due to the wages issue.

I see Ricketts in CM as a waste. Winger, behind the front 2 or a striker, but not really a CM.

Well yes, but we got rid of two young players that had great potential, the point is will we sell him and then regret keeping him for the next couple of seasons where his value could rise significantly

Sky sports doesn't say that we've rejected it just the we are considering a bid in the region of £300,000

Wasnt the 'breaking news' when I posted it.

Since then, Darragh McAnthony has tweeted saying Kane is a promising young player, but the bid was NOT £300k. :dim:

He wouldn't get first team football at Posh. If he has any sense, he'll get at least a full season of first team football here (maybe longer if we go up), be part of a potentially promotion winning side (or get relegated with Posh), learn his trade and hone his game under an experienced manager in Sturrock....he'd be a fool to go at the moment.

Good player with obvious attributes that have attracted a lot of attention, but it's those attributes that would make him look a much better player next season. His tackling, areial ability, workrate would be so much more appreciated when he has better players around him. Kane can do the leg work, break up play and give it to the better attacking players in the team. He'd get more recognition from more clubs by playing in a team (hopefully) challenging form promotion and a better move would come along, meaning more money for the club in the long run.
Really hope he stays.

If we set a fee in a similar way to Fat Barry does for his own players, then they will need to pay about £2m for Ferdinand :dim:

Not good news. We must reject it.

So its a guarantee we're going up and they are coming down without a game being played is it? I do fancy our chances of promotion this season but to say he would be a fool to go is very biased. He may look at the move as a huge wage increase and a chance to prove himself at a higher level and Prem clubs would take notice of a Championship player.

I'm not so sure about that, Peterborough will struggle and IMO will be relegated with some ease. They've sold MacKail-Smith and it's rumoured that Joe Lewis & George Boyd will be sold. They've also let Lee & Whelpdale go to Gillingham, although they weren't regulars last season. Peterborough need to start being proactive in the transfer market otherwise they'll be relegated by Christmas.

I don't think that Ferdinand would benefit by going to a club that will struggle. I'm not saying we shouldn't sell him, but if there's interest or a potential auction let's get the asking price and also add ons up.

If you read my post properly, you might notice the presence of the word 'potentially' just before the word 'promotion'.... But I'm confident that Posh will be relegated.

It's debatable whether 19 good games at this level constitutes 'proving himself'. He needs a full season to prove himself in L2 before even dreaming about trying to prove himself in Europe's best second tier.....

Makes me laugh to see people saying Posh are not that much of a step up. Only 2 leagues higher with a manager who's old man has Rio playing for him, you don't think there's a connection there then ? You don't think Fergie Snr has had a wee word with Rio about him for Darren ?

Good move for him I think and us if we can negotiate a sell on clause.

he needs a full season with us and this squad to learn from the old lags.. if he is that outstanding by jan and we are mid table then fine

£300k - a quarter of our annual wage budget? get a decent structured deal with future options for sell ons and other fees and surely we've got to sell at that price?

300K though is one hell of an offer for a player that has only played (17)? games in league 2...still we have turned it down but I expect another offer to come in.

I think the club are shrewd enough to know also that Peterborough have a lot of money burning a hole in their pockets at the moment after the sale of Craig Mackail-Smith - I would hope they would play hard-ball in terms of fee for this very reason.

I'm not decrying Peterborough, but in reality they aren't much of a step up. They will be relegated with ease this season, they've sold MacKail-Smith and by all accounts Boyd & Lewis will be on their way. If as it has been rumoured that Ipswich and it pains me to say West Ham are in for him then both are a step up. Peterborough are like us doomed to shuttle about the lower leagues, with an occasional foray into the CCC.

As far as the family relationship goes then absolutely not, wasn't Kane quoted as saying that he's a very distant cousin of Rio & Anton Ferdinand and has never had contact with them? And I reckon Ferguson Sr has bigger fish to fry than tipping his son the wink about 4th division players who may have a tenuous family link with one of his players.

Debatable whether we're well-covered there. I'd say there are only 4 central midfielders who are up to week-in, week-out first team football at the moment (Grant, Ferdinand, Sawyer, N'Diaye), and if PS plans on playing 433 in half of the matches, 4 is the leasr he'll need. Besides, no-one else in the centre of midfield protects the back 4 like Kane does and I think he's essential for a promotion push.

Grant can certainly play the defensive midfielder role.

Possibly N'Diaye as well.

Easton's still a free agent.....
