Best cover songs??

Cat Power- Satisfaction (The Rolling Stones). you'd think removing the chorus from one of the most successful rock songs of all time would be a no-no, but it works rather well.

She did the same for New York New York aswell on Jukebox.

But would you go and watch a covers / tribute band ?

Locally Bif Bam Pow do good mod/ Soul covers and Swindle did a great punk covers set. but Tribute bands (I'll admit I have only seen one Eagles trib act, T Rextasy and The Gift) leave me cold

Swindle were ok, I was in a similar band at the same time in Kent called, Vince Vortex and the Cucumbers...we used to get full houses...

SNIDE started off as a covers band, but I got bored with it, so now only doing originals.

The Bloc Pary version of Say It Right by Nelly Furtado that they did for Live lounge is good. There's quite a few good covers on those two Live lounge CD's

I recognise that name, mainly from the Southend Punk website

Thats the baby, yea, we got a few mentions on there..no pics of me to, bastoids!..we used to play in the early 80's...

We were around at the same time as Kronstadt Uprising, Synix, and Autumn Poison...but they were mostly anarchy driven bands...we were more 2nd wave punk (in the style of GBH, Peter and Test tubes etc). We signed to ROT records, and we had a chance on a UK tour, but the guitarist and singer decided that FT music wasnt for them....band split.

Do you know Steve Pegrum?

In the Southend area, we used to play The Grand, Zero6, Annabellas(?), we even did a gig at the Cliff!

I don't think so.....
To be honest I found the site by accident and then realised that Andy, whose surname escapes me but I know through Bif Bam Pow was on there a bit. Unfortuantely a change of firewall at work stopped me getting on the forum.....
