Best cover songs??

I was quite taken aback at just how close to the original it was though, i would imagine to get it that right they must be big Bowie fans and fro that reason i like them now :)

Ther are massive Bowie fans, you can hear it in a lot of their work. Their sound has changed a lot over the years, from the sound on the vid, to New Wave, to Goth Rock, to darker eletronics.

They've been around since 1978, with the obligatory break up for a few years in the middle!

One of my fave bands really!

Haven't checked the links but Wild Horses by The Sundays isn't half bad (I assume either they covered it or they wrote the original, considering the amount of videos I've seen of it on YouTube).

If you want some totally different Bowie (different language and everything), watch Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou I personally love the version of Life on Mars

Good shout there. I'm a big Bowie fan and really liked the versions in that film.

The use of 'Queen Bitch' for the closing scene was inspired too.

Good Covers

Chimes - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Mark Ronson & Amy Winehouse - Valerie
Jon Lucian - Who Will Buy
Donny Hathaway - What's Going On

Covers were people forget they are covers
Frank Sinatra - Theme From New York New York
Righteous Bros - Unchained Melody

A few of my favourites:

The Housemartins - You've Got a Friend (James Taylor)
REM - There She Goes Again (Velvet Underground)
Pixies - Winterlong (Neil Young)
David Bowie - Cactus (Pixies)

Wild Horses is a slow love song. I'd Youtube it but I can't at work.

I know that - I had a copy of The Sundays' version favourited on youtube before it got taken down for copyright infringement (my favourites are taking a major hit due to that, annoying as hell). Didn't think the Stones could do slow love songs, thought they were more rocky, myself.

There have been some classic cover songs and some god awful ones, being a hugely obsessed Bowie fan i hate it when his songs are covered but i had to take my hat of to Nirvana when they covered Bowie's "The Man who sold the World"

Also really liked Guns and Roses version of "Knocking on Heavens door"

What is your favourit cover song??

then as a bowie fan, you should know one of his earlier albums was all covers!..good cd in my collection.

um..I hate covers as a rule, but ANTHRAX covering Joe Jacksons 'Time' is a belter!

David Bowie and Baggy Trousers..oh no, that was just a fashion statement during ashes to ashes video

Wonderwall - Paul Anka.

Cheesy but great.

The Live Lounge series and Saturday Sessions are pretty good for uncovering good covers.
