Breaking News Barrett and Macca GONE

Well if rumours are true we declined a £100,000 bid from Millwall for Macca in Jan transfer window, hindsight is a wonderful thing but that hurts
Still boogles me how we are in this mess despite decent crowds over past 5 years at Roots Hall and probably a flat transfer budget over that period (fees paid vs fee's recieved)

I wouldn't think Col Ewe would sign Barrett after his diabolical attampt to clear the ball in the goal line on the live game at The cloud cuckoo stadium this season.

There are a lot of things going on in the background, these 2 wouldn't have been released without some plan. I think by the time the season starts, we will have the players Tilly wants and you lot will be smiling again.

Maybe he had already been tapped up at this stage.

The plan being reduce the wage and replace them with 16 yr olds, cos no one wants to play for southend while Martin is in charge, Scannell wants out now too. and will NOT sign that contract.

Need some answers from the club, specifically

- Who do we owe money to and how much
- When do the club foresee the transfer embargo being lifted?
- How many of the current players are going to commit to next season?
- Why has Tilly not been offered a new contract?
- Have any movements begun to boosting the smallest squad in the football league?

I dont expect any answers soon. All we get is propaganda club statements which are full of **** or snide remarks at departing players. A disgrace the way the club is treating the loyal fans who have put their hands in their pockets time and time again to keep the club going.

:D

Apart from intensive phone calls to the Samaritans (and they aren't taking my calls any more), levity is all I have left. Although on the bright side I did hear that both Ralph Coates & Terry Mancini are still breathing. They could do a job for us.

I hear that theer agent has lined up a move to Wigon

The club is in danger of going bust. there is little if any money coming in and the tax man is on our case. We have a new stadium to build although we have no funds to build it.
By releasing Barret and Macca saves in the region of 4k a week =208k a year without adding bonuses to it. In this situation every penny saved is a positive even if it means laundering near the bottom of Division 2 for a season or at worst a season in non-league football.
However there must be ways of saving or making money that can help the club, personally I would drop the cost of a new kit to £20 for a top which would encourage more people to buy one as currently they are £40 at the start of the season. I then have a new kit every year. Okay I know its not of money saved but every penny counts.
My second idea would be to close the bar in the west stand but have stewards in accessible areas sell beer as well as cold snacks during the games (like they do in baseball). Beer would be from a can into a plastic container and the extra income would help pay the bills. Finally advertising in the car park, after all that is where the protests all take place could work. there is a old brick wall that separates the top car park (where you enter the car park) to the main car park, whats wrong with having advertising space on there?
any other ideas?

as an ex keeper i am going back in goal for next season and in training already as at this rate i think i might just get a game at roots hall this year even at 40 the way things are going.

Both the Club shop and the catering were outsourced several years ago, so other than , I assume, an annual concession fee our income from these sources is pretty much nothing

I think our variable income is pretty much just Gate receipts, Transfers fees ,TV revenue from "one off" cupties , as you said, Advertising and any income from hiring out RH, The carpark etc .

Very little scope for increasing the revenue there, other than ticketing really and given the reduction in ticket prices (and how many fans expected a reduction in ticket prices after relegation) that is hardly much to oin our hopes on

Im sorry to say but good riddance life go s on players come and go ,If they dont wanna play for the club let em go.
macca i think we seen the best of him a few years back,as for barrett pleading poverty then seeing a new car on his driveway well im sorry in not having it ,you can all slagg me of of for saying it i dont care
with the forthcoming transfer of hooper and baily we will some cash in and get this embargo lifted and move on hopefully looking forward to the first away game at aldershot bring it on

and now ive just read that southend have parted company with physio stannard, when will this stop ? we are turning into a joke martin.

Stanards contract was up and we had two physios (one for the youth set up and one for the first team)
Choosing not to renew his contract and retaining the contracted one seems reasonably sensible considering our financial plight

Equally Ben Clarkson is a chartered physio, Stannard is not. I.E. Clarkson is actually better qualified!
