I can't really believe those moanin.

We didn't score enough goals last year, and Barney is a goal scorer.

With a full preseason I think he will be a useful addition next year.
I agree he is a goalscorer , this time next year we might be all saying that it was Lees goal that took us up .

We can't afford to keep taking a chance on old players getting back to fitness and rekindling old form.

Think this just shows how bad things could be at the club not getting promostion.

Everyone is talking about his talent yet hes sat on the bench for a team that had "no strikers"

Personally if Barnard works hard over the summer with brown I think he could be a good signing, end of the day we know he has the talent and it's been proven playing for us in the past I think one more season does no harm and is getting somebody in early rather then what we had under years of tilson waiting for the last minute.

Absolutely Scott. Totally agree. Proven goalscorer. Also need to play a system thats suits him as well.

Posted this before .He his a proven goal scorer at a higher level ,and is still young enough to have a good couple of seasons.
Fitness and our style of play at this level are the big factors.

He was sat on the bench partly because PB played Corr upfront on his own and secondly Corr in the last month produced the goals. When he played in a 4-4-2 agaisnt Oxford with pace next to him in Loza he looked more like the old Barney.

Would like to see us go back to a 4-4-2 and with Barney and Corr signed up, now bring in a couple of forwards with pace.

So how is not wanting to keep Barnard moaning?

All this shows is that he COULD score goals 4 years ago. the last 3 season he has scored 8 goals not a great return

Surprised if true as he's been disappointing since he rejoined and his desire is questionable, but as TrueBlue said, the lad's a proven goalscorer in the lower leagues and if he can get into top shape and get a good pre-season under his belt it could prove to be a smart signing. I'm prepared to give him more time, although I think of the two I would've preferred Eastwood if we have to keep one. He must be taking a fair old wage cut to come here though?

Last 3 are pretty poor, how long does he need to "get back to full fitness"?

He has only played 41 games in that time, and for large periods hasn't been fully fit.

Yes, it's a bit of a gamble, but I think with a full pre-season and fully fit he will score goals, not loads but will be good enough for us.

Just out of interest, there seems to be a clear split between those that think Barney is the right one to keep and those that want Fred. How many goals has Fred scored in the last four years vs Barneys record.

From 2012-13 to now...
Freddy - 10 goals in 66 games
Barney - 8 goals in 46 games

Since the start of 2011/12 season

Eastwood
79 appearances
12 goals

Barnard
55 appearances
8 goals

With a pre season he might be a different player but do wonder if he still has the desire. Players on the way down the leagues rarely do well in this division.

Put Lee Barnard (a pure finisher) in a system where we actually create goalscoring chances and he may still be able to score goals. He's certainly young enough.

Personally if Barnard works hard over the summer with brown I think he could be a good signing, end of the day we know he has the talent and it's been proven playing for us in the past I think one more season does no harm and is getting somebody in early rather then what we had under years of tilson waiting for the last minute.

The ability is there with him. A good idea IMO to have him sign up when we did. If he had a blinder it would have looked marvellous... I think he has still got it in the locker!

I agree he is a goalscorer , this time next year we might be all saying that it was Lees goal that took us up .

I can only assume that none of you have seen Barnard play this year?

Absolutely Scott. Totally agree. Proven goalscorer. Also need to play a system thats suits him as well.

David Crown is a proven goalscorer, should we give him a contract for next year?
