I'd like to be a penny behind him in wealth. I knew his dad David by the way. He used to come up my Albany Club spieler back in the day. His dad more or less passed the old Peter Pan's Playground onto Phillip. The dad thought there was no money in it anymore, as the big crowds had fallen, and everyone was flying to Spain, etc, rather than spending a week in Southend. If only he knew. So Phillip made his dad an offer and persuaded him to retire. Now he's a Millionaire and rising each year, with the goldmine Adventure Island. Their whole family started off by working in the old Kursaal.

Our opponents was 10-1 to beat us, we should be beating them by 2/3 clear goals. I know it’s friendly, but I do worry about our lack of goals.

Certainly you would want proper competition for places- Pedder has the incentive- come the season players need to know there is someone wanting there shirt and they may not get it back.

I’m sure we will be fine but ideally we will be bringing at least a couple in next week…

Game was a bit of non event, opposition weren’t great but did a solid job. Their keeper made a few good saves as did Colin. I felt we dropped to their level, Pedder was easily the best player on the pitch. As for the rest plenty of effort but lacked a bit of quality.

Judge the opposition when they play their next Cup match against Wexford. Think you will find they are a lot better than Southend Manor. The time in Ireland will be time well spent, given the state of Boots and Laces and not yet being able to use the new Training Ground or even Roots Hall. A possible link between the 2 Clubs, who knows.

You know Kev Southgate, only wants reinforcements at the back. Just not good enough up front with a lack lustre supply line as well. Hope he surprises us soon with a bit more ambition but I doubt it?

Finger cross the sooner the better the 2 come in as long as they can improve us that all that matters . Any idea on what positions ?
