Whilst discussing a certain person at Southend United last night & his previous life away from Southend, it got me thinking about our support.

Including Rochford, Benfleet etc, how many people on here can claim to be Southend born, bred & still living here? Also, just to make it more interesting to me, if you're not originally a Southender, where are you originally from, where did you live before & how old were you when moved to this great town?

I'll start!!

No I'm not originally from Southend. Born & lived in North London, then lived in Kent, South London, Basildon & Yorkshire. Moved to Southend when 10, when I saw my first SUFC game within a few months of moving here. Still living here today.

Born in Rochford, moved to Leed for Uni for 3 years at 18, came back for 10 months then back to Leeds for 2 years and now back to Southend for good (assuming I can get a physio job around here otherwise I may have to move again)

Born in Billericay, moved to Basildon when I was 7. Moved out of the family home at 24 and bought a Bungalow in Eastwood. Kept an eye on The Blues results from the age of 18 and went to my first game straight after we had won promotion to the old division 2/Division 1 after beating Bury away in 91, aged 22 and still living in Basildon. (glory hunter lol).

Lived in Eastwood ever since.

Im a southender, cant see myself moving out of essex unless I have to.. Proud to be born and bred in essex!!!

although uni is a big option for me

Good thread TBS .. i was born in Rochford Hospital, lived at Branksome Road in Southend for my first 18 months then out to Wakering till i was 17 .. since then i have lived in around a dozen places but never any further North or East than Bellevue Road or further West than Cotswold Road in Westcliff .. i think it fair to say i am a Southender through to the bone

Born in Whitechapel, London. Spent a couple of years in Leeds but most of my life in Leigh-on-Sea. Now live in Sheffield after spending 3 years at uni at Leicester

Born in Basildon, lived in Wickford til I was 5 then moved to Hullbridge until I was 16, then to Rayleigh for a year and now back in Wickford.

Unless i go to University I cant see myself moving from Essex

Yep....28 years ago at home, funny enough not far from where I live in Leigh..

Interesting thread.

I was born in Braintree but lived most of childhood in two spells on Isle of Wight.

But sandwiched in between was a four-year spell in Basildon.

Saw my first Southend game in 1996 and watched a handful of games until I moved back to island.

Kept eye out for results but could never afford to come all the way up for a game while back there.

However, I got a job in Suffolk in 2005 and have seen about 40 matches since then - pretty much every weekend when I don't have to work.

Born in Rochford, grew up in Westcliff & moved to Eastwood aged 15 in '76. First Blues game I remember going to was home v Workington (age 7- won 7-0) on a Friday night. Moved to London when 18 & managed to see Blues a lot from there, home & away. Moving to Cornwall in the early '90s punctured my support until the advent of cheap flights from Newquay to Stansted approx 5 years ago. Still don't see as many games as I would like due to working a lot of Saturdays now, but I've got several games on the horizon, ie Hereford, Carlisle, MKF & The Cobblers. I love it more than ever, because I don't get to see many games & because not having family in Southend anymore, The Blues are a special link to where I'm from. When Tilly took over, it felt like it was 'our' club again & since being on here, I feel a greater 'kinship' to the Club and our superb support. Excuse me whilst I just get some grit out of my eye... great thread idea, Rich!

born in rochford, lived in southend, 5 years amongst the jimmy jocks at edinburgh uni, lived in london for bit (surrey quays/acton), then back to southend, then kent (goudhurst, hildenborough, tonbridge) now back in southend

Not from Southend either although lived most of my life in Essex.

Born in Lewisham, London then to Aylesbury and most of my school life in Colchester. Moved to Thorpe Bay aged 16 and have spent the last 25 years in Thorpe Bay, Westcliff and now Rayleigh.

I was actually born and raised in columbo sri lanka moved to britain in 82 originally hampshire but dad got home sick and because his work had left sri lanka we couldnt go back there so dad chose bradford instead me me mum dad and sister grow up happily in bradford until my sister got bitten by a pet monkey and had to go to the famous hand hospital at broomfield she was in there 6 months so in mum and dad and I moved to braintree were dad got te contract for painting the white lines in all the new roads that were being built with all the new roads that were going up at that time, we then spent about 3 years in colchester were dad got the contract to plant all the trees around colchester car auctions we lived in colchester actually until 95 mum was now working at the local comprehensive as a dinner lady and ended running off with the caretacker, my dad found out one morning when he popped back home to find my mum being rammed by the school caretacker, and that was the reason we moved to southend the fact that my old man hated colchester from that point on so much he wanted to move to an area and a place that would share his thoughts too and that is why we moved to southend and started supporting southend I have now had a southend crest tattooed over my colchester crest
