Thing is gb jr you keep saying all these lovely interesting facts but they don't have any bearing on your original point. What has Mac and Harrold scoring lots got to do with Freedman and his lack of ability being due to his lack of pace. Harrold and Macdonald don't have pace either.
sorry for digressing. back to MY origional point. as i have stated already i just think freedman is overrated! he has been given a star like status when IMO it isn't warrented. i said he is a good player to have around, but people treat him like he is the best player we've ever had!!!
my point is proved here - if any other player, performed the same as dougie, they would have been slated both on here and in the ground, but dougie seems to be exempt from any critisism

erm that's why we have Robinson

True. You need a mixture of both pace and strength/creativity. Agbonlahor and Carew/Heskey has helped Villa get to 4th in the prem. Zaki and Heskey at Wigan was a good combo. Berbatov and Rooney.

This is my post on the same subject last week and it still rings true now:

We are a much, much better side when Freedman plays then when he doesn't. Against Bristol Rovers the other week he must of only been about 65 - 70% fit yet the class just oozes out of him. His goal that day, how many players that we have had under the Tilson years would have done that? Maybe Eastwood, maybe Goater, but no-one else has that intelligence to do it.

His touch, his flicks, his passes, you can just tell by watching him that he has come from a higher division, similiar to Barnard. Just watch his movement as well, his always on the move which is quite good for a "lazy player".

I'm truly staggered by some people on here, I really am. Freedman is getting stick, Gower got stick, Goater got stick, do some people on here not appreciate true class.

I think you have lost the plot. Terrific pro
when? 10 years ago? 5 years ago? he was, but his career is coming to an end and he's just going through the motions. he's not a bad player but he's certainly not as good as some people make him out to be. "he oozes class", for god sake take your tongue out of his pants!!!

Now look. He is doing well at Swansea and we really need him back to play on the left wing.

Gower got stick,
and what exactly did he get stick for? poor passing? poor crossing? giving away possesion by trying to take people on and getting tackled. looking lazy.

funny how he got stick, but freedman gets none yet he is guilty of the same things gower got stick for

If he was as good as he was 5 or 10 years ago, he wouldn't be at Southend.

exactly, he is not the same player as back then so why are people acting like he is? like i said he is just an old pro coming to the end of his career and he is on one final payday. yet people are near enough worshiping him!

I've never said he's as good as he was but his experience that he is passing onto players like Barnard, Robinson, O'Keefe (I'm sure there's others) will only make them better players and you can see when Robinson and Freedman were playing together they had built up quote a good understanding with each other.

and only scored 2 between them i think. not great.

Probably because Gower was a youngish man who probably should have been fitter then he was, where as Dougie is 34 and isn't expected to come into the team and run around the whole pitch for 90 minutes. Trust me go back and watch Man Utd in the 90's and watch how much running Cantona did.

the thing a lot of people do not know is back when mark gower had that terrible dip in form that lasted for about an entire season was not because he wasn't fit and wasn't because he was lazy but because he had a medical condition that effected him so bad "apparently he wasn't the same person in and around the team" and that almost ruined his career. i don't want to go into too much detail because it's done and dusted and he's at the top of his game now, but my source is totally genuine

so surely it would be better to have a young hungry striker who will bust a gut to play for us instead of an ageing pro who is (imo) past it

The amount of stupid quotes I can get from you would fill a series of books. If he was the same player then we would be playing at a higher level!

Like who? I'd love to be that young striker but I do not have the required skill :(.

Ah i see so because he doesn't score alot means he is poor? Back to facts. Heskey has only 5 goals in 51 games for England but his ability and presence has helped Owen and Rooney score more.

well done. now take your book, turn it sideways and cram it up your arse because your barbs are just not interesting to me. until you grow up and have something better than whimsical comments to make feel free to stick clear of me.

calm down its only a discussion! :chill:

That would be Robinson. Or would you like two young inexperienced hungry strikers who bust a guy and run around the whole time like headless chickens. I take it you wern't a fan when Goater played for us
