Post-Match Thread and Ratings Altrincham 2-0 Southend United

Kev on the radiogram takes no blame, he thinks the tactics are ok and we are a good team at times. IMO that does not answer why we cannot score goals and why our defence is rubbish.
We are definitely getting relegated then on that basis...

We must play 4-4-2, if Maher cannot do that, then the next manager who know how to play 4-4-2 and teach our players the dark arts of football too.
Spot on - formation we play is wrong - why are we playing Guardiola wing back style formations in non league? Who do we think we are? My opinion; A strong back 4, 2 quick wingers, 2 ball playing attack minded CM’s and 2 quick pacy handful strikers (Bim / Cardwell) and we get promotion.

there was nothing to get excited about today, and it was obvious by the lack of noise from our fans. Atmosphere was flat
IMO

Too many players signed throughout the whole squad who are incapable of scoring a goal

Too many small lightweight players with not enough physicality.

Complete lack of pace in the team.

Build ups far too slow.
and the quick counter attacks are slowed down

If the musicians are the issue in this case, then we might do well to question the system behind acquiring them
Well part is the number of targets missed whilst still under embargo (covered well in the past by ITKs) and hence slim pickings when we could recruit. And sustainability = finding value ( in a market where unfairly clubs pay over the top for players people want to sign).

And the severely undernourished young talent takes time to polish if we go down that route now we can.

How is George Moncur getting on, lads? Are we still towards the “whaddaplaya” end of things or have we already hit the “that ******* Jonny was right” stage?
Moncur is the least of our problems tbh. Yes you were right regards his fitness etc and yes he’s a luxury player who seemingly needs to be loved. But if we were better he’d be better, I’m sure of that. Besides he’s been injured of late.

If we have 2 attack minded CM in a 2 man MF playing sides who largely have 3 in CM it won’t end well sadly

This won't be difficult to offload.

DAZN was a total pain in the arse at the beginning, lots of buffering, shuddering and then a blank screen. Finally got a picture 5 minutes into game and then wished it was still a blank screen. We had a fair bit of possession but when you concede at the start of the half, and then again at the end of the half, possession only counts for sod all. Second half and DAZN contributed a stuttering screen to the point of stopping the stream and restarting, followed by more possession football and nothing else. Glanced at the SZ comments and wished I hadn't as there was some stunning analysis of our performance from the usual suspects.

I'm off to cook dinner now, **** this lot for a game of soldiers.
Trying to understand what you’re getting at here?

Right now we are looking more like relegation candidates “fact” our home form is 💩 and if you don’t win your home games you’re in trouble and i can’t see us winning next week either. Saying that I do believe that there’s enough talent in the side to be at the opposite end of the table as I think we all know. The problem for me is motivation of these players and a big confusion over game plan or more the point lack of it and that has to fall at the feet of management.

It’s not end of the world but does need addressing asap before it becomes a major problem.

Cardwell scoring the winner against us next week could be the final straw for many.

Unfortunately, we will just have to suck it and see until January 😬.

COYB 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

Brother-in-law (long-term supporter) said after several sub-par performances recently that things need to improve or he won't be renewing his season ticket thing.
OAP's might prefer to heat not seat after losing their heating allowance.

Some will defend the manager to the end. Like they did with Molesley. Yes Kev needs a fair crack of the whip but he can’t be given unlimited chances, how long do you give him? Longer yes but to say this season he’s safe .. or beyond .. madness. Today was not good enough, performance wise, selection wise and you have to worry when a manager blames every ****er but himself.

It’s still not clear that sacking Molesley WAS the right thing to do

First game on the box I've missed for a while, another Saturday another unacceptable result and performance by the sounds of it.
I posted somewhere after the Charlton result that hopefully it will lift the players for the league, opposite effect!
Also, I keep seeing in the Echo articles from players, "we will get it right" how long will we have to wait, relegation is a real threat with our lack of goals.
Where do we go from here? I'm lost.
