Post-Match Thread and Ratings Altrincham 2-0 Southend United

Welcome to the world of football. Let’s get Moseley back- we can get to the NLS quicker and put us out of our misery. Is there anyone who believes Kev has been able to bring in the quality, and quality in depth, that he (and I have to say from this thread we) want?

PS who on here knows want sustainable actually means in the NL?
I did the join the dots then😁 Molesley, why bring him up? We haven’t got Harry Redknapp as head of recruitment any more! Surely we could do better than that now we haven’t got a clown in charge.

I’d guess ‘sustainability’ means not spiralling into further debt a la Ron. We’d all love a moneybags billionaire but we haven’t got that unfortunately. Maybe Kev hasn’t been able to get the signings he wants, but I doubt the likes of Walker and Gubbins, who were his choices, are on peanuts.

I’d still bet we’re easily in the top half in terms of total wages in the division, yet we’re struggling towards the bottom. Who’s to blame for that then?

This season is starting to feel awful..

I'm pretty sure we have less points now than this time last season.

A season where players weren't being paid, didn't have running water, started with - 10 start and just 13 or so players.

How is this even possible?

Kev Maher is a southend legend but this can't be allowed to continue.

We barely look like scoring, always look like conceding, and only have plan A followed by more of plan A.

At what point does Kev come under fire?

We are just 3 points above the drop with FGR and two tricky away games to come.
Thanks **** we got brought out the difference is amazing

Last year we were struggling to fill the bench but they were able to perform much better so I don't buy that excuse. We've been found out. It's as simple as that. Maher's tactics are predictable, they need to change.
You are really comparing last year to this? We have lost a couple of key players since then, who have not been replaced.

All managers have a set formation they build a team around that can then flex within it. All teams can become predictable to a degree but if the players are good enough then even though you know they are playing a certain way you cannot stop them. For example, everyone knew Robben was going to cut inside onto his left foot but very few could actually stop him. Everyone knows how a Pep/Klopp side would play but not many to stop them doing it.

Our players are simply not good enough at our level for the predictability element in our tactics to be overridden. Changing the manager will give us a little bit of the surprise factor back for a while…but as I said above it is a short term view of football.

Which is part of the issue. We've sold Cardwell and lost Kensdale. Why haven't we replaced them? We've had plenty of time. Is it Kev because he has the final say? Is COSU because they're not spending any more until we become sustainable?

Kev has a set formation but if it isn't working he doesn't have a plan B. He just doesn't know what to do. He's been found out.

That’s my entire point. Every manager has a set formation. It’s the players in that formation that make the difference. On the basis he has been “found out” then so has every top manager. They just have better players.

"It's" not simple, far from it in fact...
