Post-Match Thread and Ratings Aldershot 0-0 Southend Utd

A frustrating night all round which sadly mirrors so many previous games. Absolutely bossed it from start to finish, but for all our endeavours we couldn’t find a winner.

Positives, it’s another clean sheet. The reality is Aldershot could have played all night and not scored against us.

Negatives, well for all that dominance it’s unfathomable we have come away with a measly point.

Over to you….

Decent dominant performance lacking any real attacking threat. Poor balls in and poor finishing when the ball does make its way through. Aldershot did well to hold GSM out far wide for most of the game.

Not unhappy with the point but it definitely could have been a win.

Husin needs a break, he has been poor in attack for a while now and losing the ball a lot. Give KAF his spot, he's earnt it

The clean sheet is definitely a positive and the fact we controlled most of the game. These are the kind of games we need a big centre half heading it in from a corner or a deflected 25 yarder.

For me I still can’t believe we are so poor at set pieces. What, 11 corners?! It’s getting annoying now Kev.
We lack that composure in the final third and that killer ball too often. How many times have we seen it. Anyway .. we didn’t lose, or concede. Let’s bank the point and make sure we get 3 on Saturday.

Oh quick word for April, thought she spoke a lot of sense on BBC Essex.

Played very well, working ourselves into decent positions on countless occasions, but we paid the price for trying to walk the ball into the net.
Morton and Husin really should be testing the keeper given the positions they take up on the edge of the box, but too often it's the safe ball back out to the wing.

A frustrating evening given that we controlled 80% of the game.

Probably a true reflection of where we are as a club unfortunately.

Pretty blunt in attack but did they get much service?
Apart from Coker we had no real go forward in midfield & how Husin warrants a full 90 I have no idea. To many times the player seems to face back to goal rather than turning upfield.
Thankfully reasonably sound at the back although we nearly gave it away a couple of times but you can't ask much more of them than a clean sheet. Gus looked like he'd been out for 2/3 months not 1 game.

Allround a bit meh!
