Move on....so another player had gone, well lets make sure our team in charge replace the ones that have left, and if any others are not sure what to do.....well make your minds up and either stay on the ride or get off now

keep the faith the fixtures aren't even out yet

Bloody hell, how bitter do you lot sound?

Tin pot Bury, no ambition, gone for the money... you sound like spoilt brats although I suppose tango hates us and it rubbed off on some of you lot!

We are the Bury we sign who we want.

In fairness we call oursleves 'tin pot' so I wouln't take offence. A lot of us rate Thomson very highly , and he is still imporving . Apparently there was a lot of interest including from at least one championship club .Most of us are not only surprised that he has gone, but would have 'assumed' he would ahve gone to a 'bigger' league One club or a championship club which would look to improve him for the future.

If the roles were reversed and you were loosing one of your better players your message boards would be saying the same thing about us+ possibly laughing at our stadium saga

I sort of get what you're saying and agree. Old news...Thompson would be nothing if it wasn't for SUFC and Anton and that goes for the other 2 who didn't sign a contract last season..... Though I was more than happy to get a fee for both

No player is bigger than SUFC and we'll always find better out their.

I certainly wouldn't put Thompson as a Championship player, no way.......

Tommo had a very good season alongside Anton but didn't look good when alongside Barrett; and at Bury he will be with Peter Clarke so I don't think that will be a great combo or development for Tommo.
For us JW and Anton would be a reasonable pairing and, as others have said, it is a bit early to start the panic stuff.
PB has done well IMO, and he will be learning and thinking on his management style; as I have little doubt he can be difficult at times when being mellower would work better.

Peter Clarke plays for Oldham. He'll most likely be playing alongside Antony Kay at Bury.

See that Anton has tweeted that he will miss having Thommo around the place - suggesting that Anton will still be around the place??

Thommo spent the season mopping up Anton's errors so i would imagine he will be even more busy correcting Callamity Clarkes boobs

...And to think i voted Adam thompson player of the season + clapped extra loud every header he won all season...

See ya laters fatty :raspberry:

I hope so.... I'd rather see Anton sign for another year or two than Thompson. He's got a footballing brain and any of our young centre backs will learn a lot from him. I honestly believe Thompson will struggle without Anton's guidance.

I hadn't posted on here a while so forgot how quickly people twist your words. At no point have I said bringing through youth team was a priority - it is simply something a club like us need to do a bit more - and the point I was making is that by pruning those players that are not up to Championship standard, by investing in fewer but more quality players - you can supplement your squad with your OWN youngsters and achieve a better balance between the two.

I never even replied to you so not sure how I was twisting your words....

Bringing players through a bit more is only possible if you have the players to bring through. We have a decent youth system here but I dont see one player anywhere near being a better option than signing someone from outside. If we signed fewer players which would force us to use more youngsters would just mean use using players not good enough.

If the youngsters are good enough for league one football they will get their chances, if they arent they wont.

There is continuing implying that players leave because no one likes Brown. Yet Anton is a free agent, if Brown is so awful why hasnt he fled the stinking Brown ship already? He may end up not signing a new deal but he could have left already if it was as bad as some make out.

That was a joke right? :hilarious: Ferdinand held our back 4 together last season, he was immense.

Fair reply, in all honesty I'm surprised we have signed him but we are properly going to go for it this season I think.

We wont laugh at your stadium saga ours is growing into a massive saga itself.

What can we genuinely expect from Thomson? I imagine he will be played in a back 4 with Nathan Cameron as his CB partner.

Seems a huge amount of crowd ****tery going on here, burton with there 3000 fans aren't doing to bad in the CHAMPIONSHIP are they??

Firstly, who ever called you a tin pot club is a bit out of order. Ok, we have gates twice your size but so does the likes of Sheffield Utd to us....... NOT RIGHT, You're a fan of your club.

As for Thompson, I'm not sure and not too upset he's gone. The first 3 years he really wasn't much at the club and was pretty crap at the start of last season, until we brought Anton in. They seemed to gel and Anton was always talking to him.

In my honest opinion, he's a mid table lg1 player - No more...... If we're serious about promotion this season then, I wouldn't have him as a regular starter.

I think the upset with our fans on here is the way he went about things after we worked hard to improve his game.

Don't take much notice of the TIN POT stuff.

Shame I must have missed that season.

For those of you wondering I did like this post by mistake.

As we have seen on countless occasions over the last few years, the key is to have 2 central defenders who can play together ............. one of the two will normally be seen as being "weaker" but together the 2 players make a good partnership. I thought we had that in Thommo and Anton.

For the Bury fans on this site, whether Thommo does well for you I think will depend on who he has around him - he is quite physical with the opposition strikers and gets stuck in and now that he has the experience under his belt I think he will make a good impression with the fans.

As for us (Southend United) I can see White being a reasonable replacement (based on his appearances there last season) but I really would like to see some competition for the place and we know that Anton can go off with niggles and tight hamstrings for instance.
