A gloating Wolves fan

I couldn't be bothered if Eastwood went to Wolves or Charlton, just so long as one of the suckers as forked out the over in flated £2m we seem to have been hanging out for since Christmas when he decided he was too big for this club and couldn't give a sh*t if we were relegated or not. I can't beleive the God like status he still seems to have amongst many on here just because he did what he was being paid to do and that was score goals. If Wolves think they are buying a future God and can tell them now that this guy isn't worthy of walking in Steve Bulls shaddow as there was a player of international quilty who stuck with his team through thick and thin and even continued to play when they were relegated to the old 4th division when he could easily have demanded a big money move to a more successfull club. No the age of the Steve Bull type loyalty has long gone. Wolves you are buying a mercenary who will dump you the minute something bigger comes along as sure as he has dumped us. When the time comes for your sake, I just hope your manager has the balls to dump him a lot quicker than ours did.

Did what he was paid to do? What did you want, him chipping in with some painting of the West Stand pillars? Maybe a bit of nursing on the night shift?

He's a hero because of his goalscoring record and this is because his goalscoring record was a significant factor in our double promotion and the most significant trophy win in our history.

I completely refute the suggestion that he didn't care still. He looked as gutted as any of the players. Just because, finally, the burden of being the team's creative and goalscoring hub eventually weighed too heavy for him to continue carrying us, it's not fair to call him disinterested.

Skyblue, Freddy did care, very much. Without him i very much doubt we'd have played in the championship last year, and if we hadn't have played in the championship we wouldn't have signed some of the players we now have on our books, the stadium plans would resemble something simillar to the box Colchester call a "fantastic new stadium." And even then i would imagine the council would have told us to jog on again. When we lost to Barnsley at home and it virtually sealed our fate he was dejected. He was under immense pressure here to keep us up aon his own and he couldn't quite do it, and nor could any one person. Freddy has always played in 'lazy' way but that does not mean for one minute he was. He love the club, the fans and enjoyed his time here, but ultimately his talents are undisputedly wasted at L1 level.

"charlton is the best move for him, they are a bigger club and have more of a chance of getting into the premiership "

Sorry but that's total b0ll0cks, Charlton may have been more successful over the last 20 years but they are not a bigger club than Wolves. You may be to young to remember but Charlton crowds in the 80's and in the early 90's were pathetic.Personally I think a lot of their support is the "premiersh1te is sexy" flaky crowd who will disappear if they struggle this season.

Wolves spent quite a bit of time down in the 4th division back in the 80's and they still got massive support. They are also historically one of England's great clubs and perennial under-achievers. Wolves are a much bigger club IMHO.

Agreed. I know a few Charlton fans and relegation is really going to hurt them. IF Wolves can go up and stay there for at least a year, they could become a giant again...

.......that's me.

I've been following this forum for a while now whilst the Fred saga was going on.There have been several Wolves fans who have come on here with the best intentions but have met a lukewarm response.

Why is that? Why do you appear to have such an irrational hatred of us? Even more peculiar is your apparent 'love in' with Charlton.:o

"Pllllleeeeeeaaaasssssseeee Fred will you sign for Charlton"......"Plllllleeeeeeaaaaasssssseeeee Fred don't go to Wolves"

There was a time when I empathised with you-particularly after we lost our 'jewel' in Lescott this time last year. However, your attitude towards us is laughable-indeed bordering on embarrassing particularly when we're not rivals in any shape or form.

Anyway,Fred's now got the move he wanted.

Enjoy Orient.

Co*k !!!

You are wrong mate, Wolf1 has been received extremely well and makes good points and holds good discussions. Your just a tw*t !!

What a ridiculous statement.

Freddy gave us 3 years, including a year in the Championship when he could well have got a move last year.

Would you turn down an extra £250,000 a year knowing you only had 10 years maximum left to work ?

As a mercenary Freddy is a crap one, he lives in a mobile home for petes sake, hardly living it up in the lap of luxury is he ? Its clear that for him he wants to play at the highest level and its not just about the money anyway.

Freddy is the 2nd best player to have played for Southend and if you cant see that then I wonder who you have been watching.

I would argue that his mindset is better than collymore's (assume thats who you are talking about and not Tes) and therfore he is our best ever player? Have to say that it has become harder to score goals since Collymore was playing also.

Lol, forgot Tes, ok 3rd best...

Cant agree Freddy is as good as Collymore. Eastwood has scored some great goals and some of the things he does blow me away but for me he isnt rounded enough and too one dimensional to be the same calibre as Stanley.

Collymore quickly jumped to the top tier and looked good there, if it wasnt for his off the field problems would have been even bigger. Even with his off the field problems I think he achieved more than Freddy will.

Time will tell, and Im still hoping Liverpool will buy Freddy for 15 million one day so we get a huge windfall!

I would agree that collymore achieved more than i think freddy will, but i think although Freddy isn't as good a player, the off field collymore problems means that he is the better player, in sport mindset is so very important.

Lets just hope he dos'nt get homesick, and keeps away from the influences that led to certain rumours circulating suggesting how and where he spent his leisure time, and how certain injuries were supposedly got.
There will be a lot more attention focused on him in the west midlands than there was here.

Lets hope he does and he comes home next season for thruppence

Fred will be back next summer, he wont settle up there and will want a return down here to gypsy life.
We will get him back 500k

Why Charlton over Wolves? Some of us remember the 80s. Charlton never smashed up our car park.

I've been waiting for someone to mention that, have never forgot it, queueing to get in the West Stand and Wolves fans just smacking people in the face, unprovoked ,got my Dad, blood everywhere, thanks very much.

Loads of them ,yet last season they brought little more than 1,000 to Roots Hall, similar away following to that bottom of the table small club Southend.

Have to say they looked almost as bad as us,clearly they had a better second half to the season.

Best part is Freddy is set up for life on I'm guessing around £10,000 a week over four years regardless if he scores goals, and if he does ,he won't be with Wolves. don't rule out playing us in a season or two, the Championship is hard to get out of.

Thank God, such things do not happen anymore..

Freddy would have walked away from us at the begining of last season had we not steadfastly refuked any approach. As for him being the 2nd best Southend player I can only imagine you are refering to the last couple of seasons as I've been supporting the Blues since the the mid 60's and he couldn't hold a candle up against the likes of Billy Best, Bill Garner, Bret Angell, David Crown and many more to numous to mention. As for not giving a sh*t about the club I can only go by what i've seen, and certainly since Christmas his heart and mind has not been with the club that so many of you on here seems to think he adores. He will leave without looking back and for want of a better phrase.....good luck to him.

You having a laugh? Bret Angell & David Crown ? The only striker I've seen better than Freddy in my 30 years following the Blues is Stan!

My God at last someone on here talking sense on this subject (probably me included). I agree entirly, without his very special goals I doubt whether we would have made it out of the 2nd div let alone div 1.As for him being gutted, I will just have to take your word for that as I have never talked or met the guy and my assumption of his feelings for us is based entirely on his work rate on the pitch. If a player strolls around not closing down the oppostion and waitng for things to happen I think its a safe bet that he's not just laid back but probably wishing he was some where else.

About 3,000 if i remember correctly.

And didn't a fan get stabbed when they rushed the West Stand at the end of the game? I was gonna mention it last night but thought it was a long time ago now and didn't really want to bring it up.
