'Fan' last night

I thought this thread was about the chanting. The antics FBM describes is unacceptable and gives the blues a bad name. The chanting during the match is all part of modern football whether you like it or not. Having stood on the terraces I noticed the chants aimed at Agogo (Hard to miss). The first time the chant went up it was after a particularly awful touch by Junior and I found the chant "touch of a rapist" quite ironic. It was not just a few fans who who singing at him, the majority of the terraced support joined in this, it is unfair to single out a few. FBM has got it spot on when saying that professional footballers have a good lifestyle and have to accept they will get stick. The fact he got cleared is irrelevent, how many times do fans call a referee a "w*n*er" for a decision he makes, when seeing later on it was the correct decision? Do the spectators feel any guilt about being offensive to the refs? The singing was just flippant, although monotonous, and anybody upset by this is going a bit OTT. The mind games is part of the game, who knows, this might have played a part in him missing the penalty. The behaviour FBM speaks about is not acceptable and any which causes distress to the local people of Bristol. They are not all attached to the football club.

The chanting was vaguely amusing the first time but to go on for 45 minutes was just boring and showed how thick these individuals are.

Yes, chanting to wind up the opposition is part and parcel of the game but this was not the aim of the group concerned.  It was purely intended to annoy the home fans nearby and incite trouble - the group spent most of the game gisticulating at the home fans, they couldn't have seen much of the game.  They were purely there to see how far they could push things.

And their chanting in the Gloucester pre game was just moronic and embarrasing. (I didn't see the other alleged incidents.)

fbm - my little sarcastic use of the moral right was never used in connection with allegations of sexual assault, which i personally abhor. So to quote a phrase from my post in your last, I feel that you are indicating that i condone such behaviour. For the record my post was in reply to Suffolk Shrimpers' initial post. In your initial post you did not mention anything about this sexual assault and could be interpreted that you were upset by the chanting. However your latest post now makes it clear what has upset you, which is different to start of this thread. I guess that is where the crosswires stemmed from.

I do feel that moaning about chants during football matches to opposition footballers is a little strange, as this has been part and parcel of football for years. Of course the more inventive and amusing the chant is, the greater the likelihood that it will have longevity.

Of course, what was not relayed properly was the context with which the chanting occurred, i.e all the incidents prior and during the game, which add substance to why the chanting became irritating.

Exactly, and that's why the chanting on Tuesday should have had a very short shelf life IMHO.

Gingers son? Is that the fat bloke with the loud voice?

He was ****ed as a fart and a complete arse at the away fixture to Kiddie!
Having a go at Jack for using his drum, and singing about having a trumpet.
I dont doubt his loyalty towards the club but I do think anyone who wants to start fight's with a fellow supporter for using a drum is a bit of an idiot!
Jack should of wrapped his drum round his f**king head!!!!!!!

Quote[/b] ]i found the chanting highly amusing to be honest, maybe i need to grow up. However what did he expect, innocent or guilty when has that ever mattered to a football fan, ive supported the club for many years and have heard a lot worse chanted at opposition players.

To be honest it didnt sound as if it was the minority chanting either

Things like this are part and parcel of the game, I don't know why so many people are getting the arse ache over this. Agogo was cleared of attempted rape and therefore should be abused. Its the same as when Alsop visited the Hall, he was rightfully abused but no-one came on here moaning then did they.

The same when Jody Morris visited the Hall with Millwall, he got rightfully abused.

Are we not talking of 'supporters' making an arse of themselves and being out of line in public bars?

I'm all up for a bit of abuse within the game when it's deservered though!
