Suffolk Shrimper In Dorset

Couldn't see much if any mention of it on other posts which surprises me but the behaviour of the one bloke who taunted their No. 9 was appalling.

I stood in the bit just behind our dug out so sadly saw the whole sorry affair. Once arguably mildly funny, twice tedious, fifty times starting to get a bore, but this one went on and on. Even his co-horts seemed to find other things to do after his 300th chant.

The 14 year old steward understandably did nothing, it was only when the cops seemed to finally wake up and have a word at half time that he finally shut it.

It's a free country, and if someones done something wrong then they should expect some stick, but this was embarrassing.

Does this person frequent this site? If so, does he want to explain himself?

What do others think?

One of the Rovers players was acquitted earlier this week, of a serious crime, for which he was reminded about not so subtly.

Oh is that what we're talking about?

IMHO I thought the Southend fans were adeptly informed of recent current affairs and allowed the Bristol fans to know this.

I'm afraid I find the behaviour of many of our "fans" embarrassing. I'm sure the club would rather they not come, no matter how much of their hard earned wonga they spend for the cause. All they do is give the club a bad name.

(cue mindless abuse and rants about how they follow the Blues every game and are much better fans than the rest of us and how they stand up to fight rival scum and <yawn> ya-da-ya-da-ya-da-ya-da-ya-da-ya-da)

Actually that is the Mayor, I have always followed the Shrimpers!!

Having also been in that section, I can identify the lad you are referring to as Ginger's son.

I doubt if he surfs.

What was also going on in that section with the blokes and that SUFC Flag? They seemed to be getting a bit of a talking to every now and again then the flag was raised on cructhes.

like fbm i also found the chant embarassing, once or twice fine, but over and over, and when he missed that penalty, i was right in the front corner and most of the lads directing their abuse at him weren't even watching the game half the time.

i found the chanting highly amusing to be honest, maybe i need to grow up. However what did he expect, innocent or guilty when has that ever mattered to a football fan, ive supported the club for many years and have heard a lot worse chanted at opposition players.

To be honest it didnt sound as if it was the minority chanting either.

You know nothing. I follow the Blues and I am a much better fan than you and I will stand up to fight rival scum to the bitter death. Oh, and my moronic taunt put him off of his penalty. What have you got to say to that ? Ner Ner

PS - How Ironic that the same Spawn of Ginger (allegedly at the forefront) was pictured in the Echo last night celebrating Gower's goal.

I must confess to offensive chanting at a football match. When Julian Allsop was playing against us recently I started the "He's got the whole banana up his arse " chant. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I accept your apology, I have attended matches with trepedation since that vile chant of yours (sitting as I do within earshot of your foul mouth) but feel much better that you feel remorse for your actions.

I look forward to being able to attend matches and watch the football in the civilised and restrained manner that I enjoy.

I too accept your apology - but think a Shrimperzone poll on the matter would be a better way of deciding whether you should be truly forgiven.

I now find myself humming "he's got the whole banana....up his arse" which I find most inconvenient given that the boss is down today and inspecting my office.

Its part and parcel of the game giving opposite players a bit of verbal now and again.

How about this then, we all get too the ground by coach 2.45pm and walk together holding hands singing cum biya my lord and then go into the ground and sit in our correct seats whilst showing our appreciation to both sides with a two finger tap.

When either team score we are allowed to tap three times and then sit back in our seats and drink out tea. At the end of the game we shake hands with the other fans and get straight bakc on our coaches and sleep all the way home whilst listening to Radio 4 on the wireless.

Well f**k that for a game of toys soldiers, lets keep with making it as difficult as possible for the other side and give them as much stick as possible.

Brilliant. I think we should give this a try.

Damn you mcnasty, I now have to admit to starting a sing-a-long at Northampton during the LDV of 'His got a banana in his ring, tra la la la la' and '1 banana 2 banana 3 banana 4, Allsop is knocking at the door'.

I must admit that even the stewards at Sixfields found these amusing.

I hope after these indiscretions, I am not now spurned by the moral right.

I found the chanting amusing aswel! What about when one fan in the dug-out terrace started signing "down like the Ripper,You're going down like the Ripper"

Why is it that people get criticised for upholding decent standards of behaviour and wishing others did the same?

I didn't hear anything about the chanting to Agogo. However, that is all part of football and to a degree players ask for it. They are in the public eye, and are lucky enough to be fairly well paid for doing something they enjoy. They are role models and if they commit crimes or indiscretions, then they should be pilloried and made an example of. That is the price they have to pay for being lucky enough to enjoy the lifestyles that they do. After all, everything has a price. I think he was cleared of attempted rape? If so then it's only natural he is going to get some stick from the fans. As has been said, maybe 300+ of the same chants is just a little monotonous, but then that's down to the people with the person chanting to maybe have a word and say "it isn't funny anymore, pack it in".

The behaviour I was referring to is the drunken moronic antics and sexual assaults of barmaids in family pubs. Strangely, Gingers son was in that group as well, although I have no idea who actually "touched up" the barmaid as has been quoted elsewhere, if in fact that is what happened.

I'm long past the age when I find louts shouting in pubs, assaulting staff (allegedly) and threatening to drop their trousers funny. In fact, I don't think I EVER found it funny. It's just embarrassing.

Yes, that is only my opinion of course, but to be blunt, anyone who finds that acceptable and funny is lowlife. Which, again, is just my opinion.

And if that makes me one of the moral right, then so be it. I'm happy that way.
