Another one we let go we should have kept

I watched Woodyard playing for us of course and many more times playing for Concord Rangers and there was very little to suggest he’d be much good above League 2 level so I don’t think that’s money well spent.

No ta. No record in League One whatsoever. If he weren't an ex-youth, his name wouldn't even be found mentioned anywhere on SZ.

Whatever one may think of him, Steve Evans is no mug. I doubt he would have spent serious money on Alex Woodyard unless he thought Peterborough were going to get a good return on that investment. Woodyard is certainly hightly rated at Lincoln and was one of the first players Danny Cowley signed when he arrived there.

I know nothing of the budget SCP has to work with or indeed what remit and goals he has been given.
What I do know though is that three senior midfield players in Wright , Wordsworth and Timlin have been let go for various reasons and the other ( much less experienced ) one who played a big part in last season is possibly struggling to be fit for the start of the season.
Now those are either the actions of a calm and confident Manager with a ‘plan’ or someone who is under strict orders to cut the higher earners and make do with a smaller budget.
As I say , I have no knowledge either way so won’t pass judgment just yet , but I am a little concerned

Couple that with the fact we also lost Lenny last season means all four of our first choice centre midfielders at the start of the season have left. As you say, CP must have a plan.

As for Woodyard, I quite liked him but at the time PB had other plans. He's done ok for himself and good luck to him dealing with that awful bloke as his manager!

Scunthorpe's Tom Hopper and Sam Manton are on our wanted list it seems. No surprise on Sam but the first time Hopper has been mentioned?

Tom Hopper was sacked in 2015 because of a sex tape. We seem to love a bad boy.
Seriously tho, I think we need a more prolific striker than that. We've just been through a few seasons with low scoring main strikers.

PB and Ron were not adverse to courting controversy with their signings, or giving players another chance despite significant demeanour's. However I would be very surprised if Sir Chris was keen to take on someone sickeningly racially abusing local Thai girls during a sex orgy? Mind you after his sacking by Leicester, Scunthorpe were quick to forgive and forget to sign the young man
