Great suggestion in terms of quality, but would Anton Ferdinand be sufficiently tall to deal with the sort of aerial threat that he would he face in League 1?

Charlton have been linked with Ferdinand and apparently he's been training with Preston. Wouldn't have thought we could afford his wages but would be a great signing.

Gillingham are also believed to have approached him according to their message board.

At last. Some "excess" players from the league above are being mentioned as being available ........ thank goodness we didn't make a rash of signings weeks ago and still have some budget to spend.

I've heard Rueben Reid mentioned on here so many times as someone we should sign but don't really know too much about him. What kind of a striker is he? certainly seems to know where the back of the net is

Rubén Reid if its hm would be a major risk. He has by all accounts has a poor recent injury record and there has been speculation that he has failed 2 recent medically. Portsmouth I believe we're one of these clubs who were very interested in him and it could explain why he is still a free agent at this stage of the season.

Imagine If Jason Williams had a big brother who was more mobile.

another so called Star Striker, crock. Has one good(ish) season in 10 years and people rate them...

Don't think it can be Reuben Reid, as Brown has said today that the striker he is speaking to had a superb record last season, but Reid only scored 7 goals, so it can't see it being him.

still think it's gonna be Matt Green from looking at the scorers list.

Matty Taylor - New deal at Rovers in L1
Jay Simpson - on rumoured 8k per week
John Akinde - New deal at Barnet
Lyle Taylor - in L1 now
Kemar Roofe - at Leeds
Billy Kee - Signed new deal in March at Accy
Matt Green -----
Josh Windass - Rangers
Jabo Ibehre ---
Shaun Miller - just signed for Carlisle
Marc Richards - In L1
rest below 15 goals.

Could be Ibehre suppose but just think it's Green

Matt Green is a good shout. He seems to be a Mr Mansfield though, much like Barrett being Mr Southend. The stags fans even contributed £2,000 towards his fee in 2011. But surely at 29, he could be tempted by league one football. He would be a decent addition too.

I'm guessing the L2 striker is Matt Green of Mansfield, of the players that had a "superb" return in L2 last season he seems the most realistic.

The PL centreback loanee is a little harder to pin down, but two that spring to mind are Jordan Turnbull of Southampton who played 40+ games for Swindon last year or Ryan Inniss of Crystal Palace who featured a number of times for Port Vale. I genuinely have no idea who the CB from the Championship might be though.

Adam King seems the most likely candidate for the midfielder from Swansea, he scored a handful of goals for Crewe last season.

As for the mystery attacking midfielder we bid for (who supposedly performed well in L1 last year) my guesses would be either Brad Potts or Danny Philliskirk from Blackpool.

Matt Green has had his share of injuries and maybe would be far more successful if not. Might not be so hot at this level after the cruciate injury. Tricky one.

The slightly worrying thing is that most of the top ten league two strikers from last year are under contract. I wouldn't imagine we could pay that off. But the one player who scored 14 goals and is out of contract is...

Billy Paynter!

I think the PL Centre Back might be Josh Pask from West Ham, signed a new 3 year deal at Hammers yesterday and captained their development squad against us at Wakering. Was on loan at Daggers last season.

Not a bad shout, a bit young for me though, i'd prefer someone with a little more experience.
