It's the unfortunate time we live in. When anything happens there is always someone there to video the footage. Not for proof to show the police to use as evidence but to gain a few followers on twitter, or get a few likes on Facebook. People seem to love a disaster to boost their Facebook and twitter ratings.

This is an absolute sickening event, especially for myself a serving member of the armed forces. My thoughts go out to his family. I really do hope that something is done about this. We are pulling out of Afghan soon and we can focus our attentions elsewhere so these ****ers better stand by!

What happened in Woolwich was a terrible crime which nobody in their right mind would do anything other than condemn, rather than seek to condone.

I understand why they killed a soilder but what i dont understand is why would a person film it rather then try and stop it,why wouldnt you try and help,terrible day indeed.

For the same reason kids started off filming "happy slap" attacks and fights in school. And as for intervening, well, fear for personal safety has to be top of the list, particularly in a case like this where the perpetrators are obviously dangerous extremists who don't give a damn about consequences, although there are reports that people DID try and help, and several remonstrated with the attackers.

Confirmed this morning that the victim definitely was a member of the armed forces. Unfortunately, reprisal attacks also reported at mosques in Essex and Kent over night. This is all going to need some firm handling, I hope Cameron et al are up to it.
