Post-Match Thread and Ratings Wolves 2-1 Southend United AET

I think he's been playing both reserve and first team football in an attempt to clamour together as much sharpness as possible in a short amount of time, as Sturrock obviously sees him as an integral player when match fit. Hall, much like Scannell, will need 6 months to get anywhere close to competitive League football I'd imagine.
Really? Well, it ain't working in my opinion.

I'm not forgetting that at all, but why does he need pitch time in the matches that matter to the fans? He needs reserve games first then first team. It's what happens to every other player so why is he different?

We've only had 1 reserve game! I agree to some degree that perhaps we should arrange some behind doors matches, but at the end of the day, real match sharpness comes from playing real matches.

Think fans may have to suck it in and appreciate 'booby had 12 months out and more than anyone else, needs games in the 1st team - as well as working hard in training/reserve matches etc.

No Paul, I can't accept that. I would rather have a fully fit Spencer or Hall playing than a half fit Zaaboub.

C'mon Kay, thought you of all people would be sensible on this one! Its 4 games into the season, not 24! Zaaboub hasnt played many games, so the more full games he gets, the better he will get (will, at least fitter!)

Have you spent too much time in GlasgowSUFC's company swotting for Eggheads?

Tis all about opinions. I'd rather have a left winger playing on the left wing, rather than shoving Spencer out there and from what I know of Zaaboub (always used to catch the eye when reading reports on Swindon/Walsall etc), then he is a potential better option than both of those, so I dont see the issue.

As someone said above, I'd have Hall over Soares as for me he has been our most disappointing performer so far.

Well, a fully-fit Hall is just as far away as a fully-fit Zaaboub, and Spencer has yet to impress me starting in that position on the left hand side. He's a useful impact sub, yes, as he's direct and tricky, but he drifts in and out of games too often when he starts.

I would rather be getting points under our belt and at the moment, he is the weak link in the side and therefore costing us. We need our strongest team out there at the moment and Zaaboub should be on the bench. And being as Eggheads was 8 months ago, no, we've not been doing any swotting!

An attendance of less than 3,000 at Roots Hall rather suggests that the League Cup doesn't matter to fans.

Ryan Hall is only half fit as well.

Scott Spencer can play on the left of a 4-3-3, but he is not a left-midfielder.

I agree, Zaboub is nowhere near match fit and Hall or Spencer offer in my honest opinion far more anyway. He has been very weak in all the games he has played in so far.

It could be he turns out to be an good player, but he needs a lot of time getting fit, half a dozen reserve games under his belt would go a long way.

Which would take us to the end of October before he has played those.

Sturrock obviously rates him highly and trusts him. He hasnt worked with Hall or Spencer before, so I assume PS thinks he is a better option than those and worth perservering.

If he hadnt have been so integral to Sturrock teams of the past, I'd be more inclined to agree, but this lad is almost always in Sturrock teams for a reason. He will come good, just needs these few games to get 100%.

To comment on people saying that Zaaboub should be dropped, I personally feel if Hall has to take anyones place, it would be Soares.. Both look alright to me, but Soares really hasn't performed, and isn't showing the signs Zaaboub is that he will improve..

That would mean dropping simpson which given his form would be a traversty
