It's Moussa all over again isn't it?
Zaaboub is clearly the only player we've got with any class (hey, we're in division 4, that goes with the territory). Actually that's probably a bit harsh on Simpson, who has some class. But the rest of them are clearly functional in their passing lacking the technique and vision to deliver weighted, intelligent passes onto a player's correct foot.
Zaaboub's rusty as hell, clearly lacking match fitness (which is why he played and why his performances tail off) but you can see in occasional glimpses that he has that sort of quality. It might not always come off, but he's the one player who can inject quality into the team. He's following in the footsteps of two other criminally underappreciated talents, Moussa and Gower and I feel sorry for those who failed to appreciate what they brought to the team.
There wasn't much I could take from the Port Vale game, but our two best moves were both down to Zaaboub. One of them saw Zaaboub break from his own penalty area, beat an opponent or two and have the presence of mind to still deliver a good 40 yard ball to Clohessy to switch the focus of attack to the area where there was space. The other saw him link up with Barker, where his intelligent movement created space for Barker to overlap and he then pick him out with a simple, properly weighted ball which allowed Barker to collect the ball without breaking stride and put in a dangerous cross. It may have looked easy, but it's a skill to make it look easy and was down to his appreciation of angles and his initial movement inside, which both opened up the pass to him and created the space for Barker.
I appreciate the headless chickens as much as the next man, but I like to see it balanced with some guile. Zaaboub has that, if not yet fitness. I can't wait for him to be fit.
By tackle do you mean dive in?

:offtopic: Ex Shrimpers!!!!!!! ;)Incidentally, Moussa started last night against Leeds and fans have been really impressed with him. Sounds like they recognise his talents.
Good man. Click on the link in my now updated signature.
Which may or may not work

No sorry, not for me! I hope that he proves me wrong and you all right but so far he has been poor in possession, created nothing (except two crosses v PV), constantly gives the ball away is completely unfit and has absolutely no defensive nowse whatsoever, in my honest opinion.
It is still early days and a good performance or two might sway me, but so far does not deserve a first 11 start.
Says I havent got permissions :(
I feel sad but proud, no very proud to have watched the match last night.
They played a blinder and can hold their heads up high, now bring that sort of gutts and determination into the league and I can see us riding out this difficult period.
Sturrock said in his pre match interview that he hasn't got the balance of the team quite right yet, well dont think we are far off it. Get us a striker and we will all feel more positive.
Remember only a few weeks ago we didn't know if we would have a club to follow !
Well done to everyone who went.

It was also mentioned on the radio last night that Moshni does not speak a word of english and Zaaboub is his translator on the pitch.
If that is what it takes to get the performances we have seen from Moshni, then I am definitely in the Zaaboub camp.
However, I do feel there is something about him we have yet to see so :YB: "I'm in"
I agree with that to be fair.
What people are forgetting is he didn't have a Club last season, so his match fitness and sharpness isn't there at all and the only way that will improve is by getting game time. Its exactly the same as a cricket, whilst training and net work is important, there is no substitue to being out on the pitch.
Him, more than the others, we are going to have to give him time. Yes, he won't track back, but most wingers tend not to. He will make up for that when he has the ball at his feet, running at full backs and getting decent delivery into the box.

I think that was a slight exaggeration, as he spoke some basic English when DtS asked him for a photo at Eastbourne. In fact I think he demonstrated a wider vocabulary than Johnny Herd.
I'm not forgetting that at all, but why does he need pitch time in the matches that matter to the fans? He needs reserve games first then first team. It's what happens to every other player so why is he different?
