First XI
My favorite game in the north bank was V spurs in the league cup 1989. Remember losing my state of the art casio digital watch in the surge after Gary Bennett scored. If anyone on here found it please DM me.
Or if represented throughout the entire fanbase....nearly 30% willing to go north is actually a decent numberWow, was not expecting it to be so heavily no. I started going to games in the early 2000's. I sat in the west and there's where I will always sit when I get to go to a game.
Indeed. If that is anywhere near representative, that’s over 1,800 up for being in there. Would be quite a noise generated with that amount!Or if represented throughout the entire fanbase....nearly 30% willing to go north is actually a decent number
Don’t disagree. But looks like this middle-ground scenario is the best we are going to get, until the whole stand is rebuilt as a new “Kop” end for us.Possibly an unpopular opinion, only the yellow half of the north bank isn’t as good as West stand W block.. I’d much rather not rush into getting only half the north, I think it would only work with the entirety of the stand given to home fans.
The thing is if they fix the North West corner it's still easy to give us most of the North and stick the 20 away supporters in the corner section. Away fans can still enter from fairway, we can go in east side entrance to the North.Don’t disagree. No - that's not the plan according to the update. The thing is if they fix the North West corner it's still easy to give us most of the North and stick the 20 away supporters in the corner section. Away fans can still enter from fairway, we can go in east side entrance to the North.
And once it's rebuilt will it still have the barrel roof for the acoustics or a high flat roof that'll do nothing for noise generation? Get ahead of things abit, but part of the romance of the north is how it used to be.Don’t disagree. I know...but seems it should be imoNo - that's not the plan according to the update.
I agree with you thats the ideal place for them, the North west corner and block x with both those areas have there own entrance which is linked to the current facility which are there but need refurbishment to get it back upto standard and as you said the away fans can still use fairfax with blues fans via East stand car park. If the demand is higher from away fans ie 1,500 odd then give them couple blocks in the North which still leaves Southend fans with the majority of the north. Doing it this way would cost potentially more in stewarding and police if the away side brought 1,500 or so, maybe that's a reason why COSU have decided for now to have blues fans in the North west corner and yellow seated area of the north bank...... even that option isn't to bad which still allows 3 blocks of the north bank in the yellow section with the potential of 4th block if away following is 200 odd or less. Either way blues fans will have the north bank option going forward. The thing is if they fix the North West corner it's still easy to give us most of the North and stick the 20 away supporters in the corner section. Away fans can still enter from fairway, we can go in east side entrance to the North.
I doubt the north bank will be rebuild anytime soon given the East stand is priority which will cost 15 odd million. I could see scenario of safe standing introduced into north bank in the future which we would all welcome. And once it's rebuilt will it still have the barrel roof for the acoustics or a high flat roof that'll do nothing for noise generation? That surge when we scored is something you can't describe to someone who has never been part of it.Does anyone remember the ‘surge in a minute, we’re gonna surge in a minute’ before everyone from the back pushed forward?
Ridiculous when you think about it now but it was a good laugh. Well, until someone got hurt.
Yes! Surly making it safe standing wouldn’t cost too much?I doubt the north bank will be rebuild anytime soon given the East stand is priority which will cost 15 odd million. I could see scenario of safe standing introduced into north bank in the future which we would all welcome.
Back in the late 60's early 70's, once the North Bank started chanting 'knees up mother Brown', you knew what would occur within 30 seconds!.Does anyone remember the ‘surge in a minute, we’re gonna surge in a minute’ before everyone from the back pushed forward?
Also off topic ( apologies ), but you'd probably remember this 'legend' ( who also became a good author ) & the guy with him. This was taken pre game recently v York.He appears to be quite a successful writer and author these days I discovered, including a handbook on the early days of SUFC.
Sorry, off topic.
I remember that vest it was a massive clash with Cricko’s yellow shorts, love the photo T.Also off topic ( apologies ), but you'd probably remember this 'legend' ( who also became a good author ) & the guy with him. This was taken pre game recently v York. View attachment 34083
Cricko must have been wearing those shorts for a bet?. Only other place you'd see someone wearing those, would be at a Norwich home game?.I remember that vest it was a massive clash with Cricko’s yellow shorts, love the photo T.
