When will the takeover go through? The Waiting Game...

Just league ratification now
Genuine question, what do the league need to sign off?

Not just with Southend but surely any club would need approval from the football association regarding a change of ownership, and not their respective league.

If the FA is satisfied with their fit and proper ownership test and the club itself is an existing member of the league, what is it they're reviewing?

Does this mean Ron can't pull out any last minute surprises?

Thanks for updates. Does that mean a certain person has actually signed off the deal, or do all parties need to sign after the league has ratified?
I'm under the impression that the Martins are passengers now, and there is little they can do to stop or delay. It's out of their hands.

Is it not the fit and proper test they are now doing? Post #7376 covers what that involves
In the EFL there are 3 steps

"First, there is the Owners’ and Directors’ Test, an objective test where prospective owners and directors have to evidence the fact they are not subject to any disqualifying events. The disqualifying events are clear and set out in the Regulations.

Second, the Club and prospective owners must submit Future Financial Information (FFI) to demonstrate how the Club will operate over the period ahead, from which any additional cash requirements to support the running of the Club can be identified.

Finally, any potential owner must demonstrate to the EFL the ultimate Source and Sufficiency of Funding which will underpin the purchase and future operations. Or in simple terms, how much money they have and where it has come from."

Suspect NL go through something similar. Confirmation this week would be two weeks or so for checks which seems reasonable?

Anyhow the BIG thing is that this is a last step and the chances of the consortium not "passing" are surely vanishingly small.

I don't know the ins and outs or whys of the process, but this is what the National League regulations say about changes in ownership:

It`s like an MOT, ok for the day they look into it, however it needs monitoring over the course of any new owners tenure. Look at the last clown in charge, how was it ever allowed to get into the state it is today?
Most of his time as owner we were in the EFL, so they need to look into accountable and proper running of a football club. We are not alone in this, Blackpool, Charlton, Portsmouth to name a few who have had charlatan owners. It will be such a breath of fresh air to get rid of the 🐀 family once and for all and have owners that really care and have the whole club and set up at heart.

They do not do it very well though. Munto!
