Question What is making you happy today?

Very decent meal at Toulouse last night. Restaurant was full and thriving, good to see. Saw the first of the Luminocity light displays at the top of Pier Hill on the way home, impressive set.

I usually don't bother looking at the price when I fill up.

My reasoning being that I value my time more than the couple of quid I will save driving around looking for a better deal.

If I was driving round looking for a better deal that would be true, I wasn't. I drove past a garage on the way to somewhere else.

I don't either, but for different reasons. I know I have to spend the money so I don't bother looking. That said, there is a petrol station in the village I live in that is consistently around 7p a litre more expensive than anywhere else so I avoid it like the plague.

I happened to be at Costco last week and noticed how (relatively) cheap the petrol was so I went for it. Given how close it is I might use it more often. The only issue is that I'm not a member, my wife is so I will have to take her with me. That'll go down well!

Probably because they've no "implant" (e.g. Costa. M&S food etc). That's where the profit is these days.

With petrol I will always try and use Shell premium, for a couple of reasons.
It is recommended by several motoring journalists as having best quality so better for engine, drive, performance and also goes further in mpg, so per gallon/ litre price is a guide and not bottom line.
And I avoid supermarket garages as there have been many cases of poor petrol, pump care, water in petrol etc AND I dislike the idea of huge companies taking a stranglehold on anything; where as most, certainly the Shell at The Bell junction, are franchises and semi independent.
The staff at the Bell petrol station are friendly folk, the loyalty scheme is quite poor but I do get money off regularly.

McDonalds operates on a franchise basis as well - you are still buying your burger/Mc Nuggets/carrot bag from a ruthless multinational.

They used to, but apparently the petrol station is about to close down with flats being built on the site. I've lived here about 15 years and their prices have always been around 7p a litre more. They just assume people are too lazy and price insensitive to bother going elsewhere.

Generally, the bigger the retail outlet, the lower the price. Think Supermarket v. village petrol station. But yes, more profit in flats. Bone of contention in Corringham !

Jet in Rochford is the cheapest in the area. I can get super unleaded cheaper there than unleaded at most other garages. Not overly out of the way for me either

'Other half's' car insurance expires next month. She's been with The Halifax car insurers for a few years.
Usually we get a notification of the new premium, always a few £ more than previous year.
So we get the yearly e-mail from them, announcing it's gone down £93 from last years premium, happy days or what????.
Total cost for fully comp now £122!. No idea whether other car insurance co's are reducing their premiums, & if so why?.
Probably the only thing we're pay less for this year!.

Actually, supermarket petrol in the main is supplied under contracts with the major oil companies (and major refiners) there‘s actually little difference between any petrol you buy at the pump whoever the retailer.

The main difference is the additives.
