Been in Torre all day, it’s decent for a visit, but wouldn’t stay/live there. Absolutely excellent amusement park for kids. Imagine Peter Pan’s minus the d1ckheads.
 
Lloret Del Mar was an odd place. I didn't even see the "British"/club side until I got on the coach to the airport. The area I was in was a nice place, very few Brits away from the all inclusive pools on the beach. My daughter played with a kid, who's parents probably won't leave the confines of the hotel for two weeks - very sad.

Not next year, back to a self-catering villa and local restaraunts.

What's been done to Lloret is just horrible.I remember going there as a kid with my parents back in the early 60's.Back then there was just the one 4 star hotel next door to the Casino.Now........Words fail me.:Stunned:

Remember going to Torremolinos for a Spain TESOL conference back in the early 90's.Work do.Everything paid for.Never been tempted back.

The bit I was in was ok. Still a lot of Spanish/French etc around and on the beach. However I very much doubt I'll return.

There are a lot nicer places to go on the Costa Brava than Lloret.Pm some time for ideas if you're interested.Though generally I would agree that you're better off with a self-catering deal on the Midi (French ) side of the border.

I booked a holiday there a few years ago with the other half, last minute. Ended up in some armpit hotel (Hotel Blau I think it was called). First thing I noticed was a massive swastika carved on my hotel door. Every other room on my floor was occupied with knobheads on drinking holidays, bar one family of which I think the dad nearly had a nervous breakdown trying to tell people to shut up making noise on a nightly basis.

I think the place (from what I saw) is geared towards people who don't like/want to experience the culture of another country (lots of union jack swimming shorts on display). I wouldn't say it was all bad, as you ultimately have to make the most of wherever you go. Wouldn't go back though in a hurry.

All I had were (young) kids running around by the pool at midnight but the hotel was quiet by 12.30 so I slept ok. I guess I just got very, very lucky.
