Decided to scrap my Fiesta. Had it for 9 years and its lived for 23. Other than a water pump and the usual rust issues its been a pretty good car. However, One brake hose going on me 2 weeks ago, and another going this week its time to send it to the scrap heap.

Bought for £700 with just 33k on the clock. I've added 113k to it and have probably only spent about £800 in repairs since owning, with £350 of that being the water pump and a new timing belt. Advantages of cheap motoring in action.

Hopefully scrap prices are high.

All the best RHB. Hands are buggers when they go wrong. My Dupuytren's is coming on nicely. I'm now on the lifetime of daily physio. They're delicate things hands. Historical note. Dupuytren is buried in Pere Lachaise cemetery. Not sure how near to Jim Morrison, Chopin or Oscar Wilde he is though. I'd post a picture of my post op hand with stitches but people might still be eating their breakfast.
Hope the op has been a success and the hand's back to normal soon.
Thanks buddy. Mrs RHB has kindly reminded me that it has definitely stopped any left handed arse scratching for the moment!

The stretch of the A127 between Kent Elms and the Weir. They are cutting and trimming the central reservation and the traffic is crawling along (London and Southend bound) v slowly.

A small biplane with agent orange would deal with that. American crop duster style

People approaching a lane closure at low speed trying to pull in 300 yard before the cones. Drive up to the cones and merge.
Sure if traffic is moving at 30 mph plus pull in early to keep if flowing. But when it’s walking pace !

Process of looking for a used car.

Autotrader seems to be now just predominantly dealerships. Facebook seems to be where most sell their cars, but trying to find a legitimate one is like navigating a minefield. Seems quite a few people sell cars on Facebook but sell 5-10 at a time. But if you read the description each one is a carbon copy "selling my car which is kept every night in a secure garage" etc etc I've completely avoided Gumtree

Managed to narrow my choice to 2. One I've messaged the seller and everytime i ring he never answers but texts. That one he is bringing the car to me tomorrow to view it

Another looks like a good prospect but the seller is in Australia, and the car is at his mums house rather than his dad's house in Grays where the pictures were taken.

So both seems like I'll never see them at the address quoted on the V5C.

Oh and to top it all off they both have the 1.0 litre Ford Ecoboost engine. The one with the timing belt inside the engine, (known as a wet belt) which is phone to failure if not correctly serviced. Ive been quoted a replacement is £1,200 for replacement in both the Fiesta or a Focus.

@Supershrimper I am also cautious about the revvy eco boost engine. I seems fine when new and serviced etc but not to age well. Also fiestas are the small car thieves choice of the moment.
When I was looking a year or so ago, for my daughter, we ended up with a low mileage Honda Jazz from Central Cars near Kent Elms.
It, and them, have been faultless. Not exciting but does what it is wanted for .

I have been applying for a new job

Today I got a stinking e-mail back (about an interview I went to 3 weeks ago) with shouty capital letters in the subject e-mail WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION

it went on to say "We have tried calling you a few times following on from your interview. As we haven’t heard back, I have withdrawn your application." The truth is I only have one missed call from this person (which was today) and then this e-mail today.

I tried to telephone this person back and surprise surprise voicemail. I have followed this up with an e-mail and so far nothing.

If not a newish car it’s well worth looking at a vehicle’s MOT history online, often find there are past horrors a seller conveniently chooses not to reveal.

Drivers coming out of petrol stations turning right but staying in the middle of the nice wide exit ramp, meaning those turning left can’t get past them.. it must be a throwback to people turning right not using the right hand side when exiting a one way street
