What is hacking you off today?

The Urban myth is true. You are entitled to cut the branches down upto your boundary but they legally belong to your neighbour. So leave them on their driveway, with a note saying no charge

@Mad Cyril This is ok as long as there is no a TPO on it, I assume it hasn't but make sure first as we have this exact problem with trees that are on our neighbours property and overhang our garden. Because there are TPO's on them you are not allowed to cut them back without all sorts of form filling/hoop jumping with the council.

Whenever we are allowed to do anything to them (normally every three years) it's still us that has to pick up the costs of getting a tree surgeon to do the works.

Lydia Hyde is the councillor overseeing tree issues,
Update since my message to you yesterday. I left message on Lydia Hydes phone, & sent her another email last night.
She replied half hr ago, saying the offending Silver Birch tree will have a notice affixed to it within a few days, & subject to many local's objecting, it will be removed 2-3 weeks later. Hallelujah!.

So she’s more useful than brother Jake after all.

BBC East giving interview time to Nile Ranger whilst with Kettering town. He looks pretty good though!

It's a Eucalyptus. We checked with the council and there is no TPO.

My neighbour however told us there was...

Now I always trim my side of trees, so the weight is on the opposite side - if they're going to go over hopefully it's not in my garden!
I was on the other side of an argument like this.

Oak tree was in garden of neighbour who rented house from a big local builder.
We didn’t want the tree touched. It blocked their house and adding to our privacy.
They came round to cut off some big branches as their tenants said they were touching the window and making a noise.

We said if take down the branches you will be unbalancing the tree which will mean it will be more likely to fall in a storm.
If it fell it would fall on my summer house which I work from.
You would be totally liable and I am recording this conversation with proof that I highlighted the risk.

Instead of cutting several 20 -25 feet branches they just trimmed the last few feet

Very 😃

Driving on the A13, lorry pulls into my lane. Slammed my brakes on and managed to slow down in time but then brakes travel all the way to the floor. Hazards for the last mile up the Stanford-le-Hope junction, gingerly driving it down the slip road to Southend Road then up a lovely hill called Abbotts, Luckily i live near the middle so not much need for brakes.

Parked on my driveway. Sat in the drivers seat, opened the door and looked under the car and could hear the noise of fluid. Looked in the direction of the passenger side front and saw it ****ing out when I braked.

New brake lines for me, and a change of pants
Same **** different day. Rear passenger this time.

Kicking myself for not checking the rest.

All the best RHB. Hands are buggers when they go wrong. My Dupuytren's is coming on nicely. I'm now on the lifetime of daily physio. They're delicate things hands. Historical note. Dupuytren is buried in Pere Lachaise cemetery. Not sure how near to Jim Morrison, Chopin or Oscar Wilde he is though. I'd post a picture of my post op hand with stitches but people might still be eating their breakfast.
Hope the op has been a success and the hand's back to normal soon.
