Everyone and everyone trying to do a meter reading, case in point below from the BBC

"One British Gas customer, Izmir Smajlaj from Streatham, said he had tried for almost two hours to submit a meter reading online.
"Every time it pops up as an error. The system is probably overloaded with people trying to do the same," he told the BBC.
"I tried a laptop, phone, my partner's phone. Tried to reach the British Gas helpline for half an hour then gave up [because] I'm at work."

Too many people trying to access the website, so instead of just leaving it for a couple of hours, they try and access it through various other means. Have they not heard of a Denial-of-Service attack. That's is basically what they are doing.

I'll be doing mine tomorrow and taking advantage of that amazing facility that most if not all energy companies provide. The ability to select the date of which you took the meter reading

In fairness they probably haven't

I also tried the app and website this morning, couldn't get in so gave up, was never going to try calling. Got a text about midday saying to text my readings in saying so I did that. Interesting seeing E-on blaming Martin Lewis for all the panic, not really sure its his fault to be honest, that would fall on the door of the government.

Phoned in my meter readings to EDF Energy and British Gas on their automatic systems - no problems - though websites were inaccessable

I'm not sure I have much sympathy for the energy companies myself. They've had plenty of time and warning to work on improving their servers to deal with the extra traffic. Maybe they would still be slow, but they could have done something. I suspect they've not done anything.

Agreed no sympathy at all and lets be honest, the big boys are only concerned about their profits being hurt and nothing else even if they are going on about how these rises are really needed. The french government did it the right way, 4% increase I think it was.

Photograph the meters, then email the photos to the suppliers and yourself. That way you have date stamped the readings.

Thank god for him so we all don't get ripped off.

France has a lot of nuclear, plus vertical marketing.

Unfortunely nurclear power stations take some time to come into comission. You might want to blame that nice Tony Blair as to why the UK doesn't have more.
Mods, this is personal opinion NOT a political one: I need little or no justification to blame Tony Blair for everything that’s gone wrong in my life from it p***ing down every day on a week’s holiday in Tenby, to an ingrowing toenail. Oh! Let’s not talk about weapons of mass destruction. Sorry Mods. I’ll wind my neck in now.

Spent £46 with Uber Eats last night, the food came and it was all cold. Put a complaint in on the app and they’ve sent me £2.29 credit as compensation!

Never used any myself. There does seem to be lots of complaints when it comes to Uber Eats or similar firms. Everything has to line up right for you to get your food hot from what I've heard. Timing is everything. From getting there when the food is hot, to delivery. And if they pick up two or more orders from the same place, you could be the last delivery. My mates have had the same experience. £2.29 compensation is really taking the p as well, considering you are paying them to collect and deliver your food hot.

Especially as the service charge was £2.99.

I never get food delivered - you are almost asking to be disappointed and the wait for a takeaway to be delivered is the very worst wait in the world.
