I'm not sure they are all super smart. Many have been tutored all of their lives and have barely kicked a ball between maths, English and violin lessons.

Very true. And, to be honest, having driven past the other day, there's not a huge amount of green stuff around the boundaries to mess about on - it's almost all been built over to the front and sides certainly...both the boys' and girls' school.

Depends on what your other choices are, probably King John or Appleton, both which are graded "outstanding" by Ofsted. If you have any doubts at all then I would go with whichever of those is your catchment school.

We are in catchment for King John.

Not me, but the frogs and toads in our back garden. They're just trying to start hibernating and Mrs RHB has declared war on the increasing number of dead leaves coming down from the trees. The more they fall the more she clears, so much so that the frogs and toads now have a big banner up saying 'Oi, Mrs RHB, NO!

Similar, in terms of the Mrs... But no frogs involved in this post though.

She told me, she was off to Manchester on business next month...

I replied "Ooooh home to the Hacienda, the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, James, or 808 state"..... to mention just a few.... Anyway it turns out..she's never heard of any of them!!

God I feel old... It wouldn't be so bad, but i'm in my early 40's (it's hardly like i'm dating a 20 year old! lol... I wish..).... and she is only about 3 years younger than me!!...how did she miss that massive music scene?

Probably grounds for divorce mate.

Had to visit Basildon High Street. Half the shops are closed and the place is empty. I was shocked.

I virtually have to step over them to get into the office. I occasionally give them some food but it is quite clear many are hopeless addicts.

Yeah you can step over homeless people in the doorways of Southend,Leigh and Westcliff too.My solution would be to create more hostels and housing for the homeless. What would yours be?

Edit.Oh and abolish universal credit.https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/oct/27/universal-credit-fuels-homeless-crisis

I guess the only solution is to vote for the party that pledges to do something to help and hope they do not forget these pledges the second they are elected.

******* monkey breaking my radio aerial on the car at Woburn. ****er.

Not to mention my laptop of just two years old dying. Suddenly required a password that I had no idea what is was, so reinstalled windows and now my USB ports & touch screen no longer work.

The homeless situation is because the druggies, mentally ill and alcoholics used to be given a free pass at the job centre, so out of sight out of mind in their bedsits. The Tories have taken a hard line approach. Now they have to turn up to job centre interviews, apply for jobs that they will never be given. Turn up for job interviews. They of course fail at one of these hurdles. First fail they stop money for about a month last I heard, under the name 'sanctions'. Second time they stop money and all benefits for longer, and the third time all money/benefits are stopped for good. So of course they are then homeless in every town in the country. What's making Southend worse is that the London Boroughs are sending them here with a one way train ticket, telling them that Southend gives more help to the homeless. The universal credit farce is also making people homeless where it has been rolled out already. So it's only going to get worse until they deal with vulnerable people in a different way.

:Fishing: I agree with your last sentence.
