I've now found out that I have to inform my AME (Aviation Medical Examiner) that I am temporarily unfit to fly. I also have to be checked over by her once I'm out of my boot before I can fly again. I have the plane booked for the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the week I should be free. My AME is on holiday that week and she can't sign me off. So I now need to find another who is available on the Tuesday.

My only quibble is the fact I have to wear a suit and tie even in this heat, but I'm still not complaining as the evenings are wonderful and nice to sit in the garden after a long day

The only issue for me is that the boys are struggling to sleep. We ended up taking my eldest's duvet downstairs. He slept on the sofa in the lounge where it is much cooler. If we had this kind of weather for more than a couple of days every other year I'd invest in air conditioning. Other than that, bring it on!
