At least parking in Brentwood is free. I'm only going from there as I'm camping overnight to try out my gear before I make a long trip.

Trying to sort out daughter's 21st next month when she doesn't know what she really wants celebratory wise, so now daddy dearest comes to the rescue and offers something which will involve the casino and immediate family only (great, me and him in a room which also holds my estranged sister!), with us having spent days trying to find venues to suit what she had led us to believe she wanted!

Must really hack you off that your daughters choice for her 21st is more important than your desires. Is Pubey going too?

Bus is almost £10 apparently, taxi £70, drive it yourself costs between £4 & £5 (one way).

So it's not THAT bad when you think it's (very roughly) 18p a mile.

So would I. What a barsteward

I blame him too. When a chauffeur return trip to London from my house is cheaper than a first class return at peak time (bear in mind I live 90 minute drive away from London, and 30 min drive to station / 60 min train journey to Paddington), to the door of where I'm going, something is clearly wrong with the pricing.

Must be subsidising the internet bandwidth for Shrimperzone access.

Yesterday. On the train to Cannon St. via London Bridge. About half hour away and we get an announcement that we're being redirected to Victoria, the wrong side of London - I walk from Cannon St. to Bishopsgate.

We're told it's ok though, we can get the tube from Victoria to Cannon Street. We get to Victoria twenty minutes later than they said we would, aaannnd the underground has been shut, due to congestion, thanks to South Eastern re-directing all their trains to Victoria. Wait fifteen minutes for a bus.

The bus then is running late due to traffic, not their fault, but decide as they're behind on schedule, they're terminating the journey five minutes shy of St. Pauls. so I end up walking the last 20 mins of my journey, and get in around two hours late.

South Eastern claim they don't need to give me any delay repay, as they got me to Victoria less than half hour late. No consideration for the fact they dumped me on the other side of London and my onward journey.

Still, it's only four grand a year.

I hear you. My train from Headcorn was diverted from charing cross to victoria. Pulled in 55 mins late. Tube was shut so i walked to work. That was a long walk...

The big reveal for school application places tomorrow - this is my daughter's first one, and it's a 5 minute walk hopefully cut & dried but i'm still a bit nervous. Feel for parents of those after a Secondary school place!

Snap. My two are currently in nursery at the school we're hoping to get but that is no guarantee. Only 30 get in and we are a whopping 480m (!) from the school gates so I'll have everything crossed at 6pm tomorrow.

It is *only* primary school so I'm trying to not get too het up, but they've had such a lovely first year there and made some great little friends, it would be disappointing to start again. And have to buy new book bags.

Surely you will have to move though when that nightclub opens?
