What have you watched on TV?

Wrong, friend.

Winter is here.

Also, what do you know of Grimm? It's like Once Upon A Time, but a crime procedural. Haven't seen it myself (don't have Watch, and my backlog of books and TV shows is ridiculous) but from what I've heard of it it's pretty good. Pretty sure it's got a second season too, or will do.

Yeah I've looked through wiki and it looks like it did skip a week and resumes where it was on Tuesday.

Not watched it yet, but Game of Thrones is back on TV tonight.

Have read all of the books since Series 1 so not going to hold any further surprises for me this time, but really looking forward to this one.

Haven't seen the final one yet, but I thought it lost it's way a bit to be fair.

Did anyone see Gervais' Derek last night? Forgot to record it.

And whats it about BM ?

Believe it was mentioned by MK on the last page, but from what I can remember after watching the pilot 3 times (fell asleep) and half of ep 2 (fell asleep again), all fairy tales are real, the evil witch queen from Snow White has managed to unleash a curse on the entire fairy land that has transported everyone in fairy to the real world where they don't get happy ever afters and can't really remember much of fairy, if anything, and are stuck in the town of Storybrooke - they can't physically get out of the place, the curse won't let them. Fortunately, Snow and Charming used the Wardrobe (I assume of Narnia fame, because my Grimm's rusty as ****) to get their newborn daughter out of fairy land before the curse hit.

Said daughter returns to Storybrooke on her 28th birthday and is prophecised to break the curse and bring back the happy ever afters, but whether that's the big arc for the show or just the season I have no idea.

How outstanding was last night's Homeland? I bet it went down like a lead balloon in the States. This program just goes to show how immature 24 was.

I've watched (well recorded and am going through) a few of the Titanic anniversary programmes on National Geographic, sadly compelling viewing

Why is it? I'm at a loss to understand the fervour around the sinking of this bloody boat. It's far from the biggest maritime disaster so why the overload of TV shows about it and all these rememberance services? I blame James Cameron.

Anyway, I caught up with Sky Arts play "The Minor Character" last night, written by Will Self. Very good, very clever. The kind of thing BBC2/4 should be doing.

Ship. :raspberry:
There's always been a fascination about Titanic and always will be, a ship deemed unsinkable, sunk on its maiden voyage. I can't be sure but I'd say the sinking of Titanic was certainly the worst peace time maritime disaster.

Far from it: MV Doña Paz sunk in 1987, 4,341 died.

SS Sultana sunk in 1865, 1800 - 2400 people died.

Where's their TV specials, outpourings of grief and Hollywood films?

At the time, Titanic was such a big deal, so the sinking was a huge event. Nothing to do with the amount of lives lost, but its impact. It was the largest ship afloat at the time.

Not only that, but the disaster meant the formation of SOLAS, and huge changes in maritime safety

Plus the bigger scandal was the class divide. Whereas 29 out of 30 children in 1st and 2nd class were rescued, in third class, this was only 27 out of 79.
