West Ham Friendly

Does anyone else think the Centenary kind of passed us by a bit?

I know there was a shirt, and the odd old player, and a few half-time appearances... but I dunno, it just feels a bit like it never really started?

I must amdmit we at the Ramblers had our centenary a few years ago and made more of an effort...and Old Southendians a few years before that definately did including a tournament

£20 for a pre season game, crikey.

On a similar subject, Colchester have just announced they're playing Bolton in Pre Season. Ticket Prices: £12 adults £6 Concessions.

£20 to watch West Sham? Thats a bl00dy disgrace!

I also think the standard of opposition is not worthy of our Centenary match!

Makes me sick reading it described as 'our prestigious high profile centenary match' on the OS.

Could it be ******* up any more??? For the reason of seeing all the spammers who more than likely will have the impression that this is our 'cup final' and that 'we all support them anyway', think I'll give it a miss.

Some Centenary match.

Their superstar and captain will both be gone by then as well. Hey, least we'll get to see Parker and possibly Joey Barton. Yay.

£20 is a bit steep for a friendly, where there will be little passion & both teams will muck about with their teams after half-time. Its cricket for me that day!!

Barton has just agreed to sign for Newcastle so we won't be seeing him afterall. Shame. Hmm.

pah portmouth was a bigger game than this and that was a disaster,
a huge fiasco in locating my season ticket meant i got in the ground late and missed our first goal and then we scored whilst i was buying a drink :(

im not the greatest fan of the eastend c0ckneys... but it will be a sellout and more money for our club... we need as much as we can get to help us win promotion.... lucky im on the data base.. my G/F who follows arsenal and the shrimpers and her mate who is a sunderland fan want to go with me and have asked me to get them tickets as well

sounds like a lot of Southend fans are not going cos its west ham.... I can understand that TBH... But lets fax facts here... theres are loads of hamsters round south essex who want to go to the match.... I just hope Southend United put a good fright/performance on the day and just maybe some may just fancy going to Root Hall to watch their local side... than going all the way to London on saturdays

I say everyone wear your COLOURS on the day... and so them Why we are SOUTHEND and SO Proud of supporting OUR local Club :) :)

Following discussions at the AGM, it was confirmed by Geoff King that the Club will not consider West Ham for the ' Centenary' match.

To be honest, I doubt i'll bother going.

The only thing that excites me about the article is the prestigious friendly match! Man utd again maybe? Perhaps the arsenal down at the hall? or will Chelsea come to be beside the seaside? It's probably some half decent championship side or a a recently relegated premiership side, charlton or watford? Possibly fulham? Who knows? Who cares?

I'm holding out for an all Southend Derby with Southend Manor :hilarious:
