there seems to be a lot of people slagging off the trust coaches lately ,each to there own ,been travelling with them for years and only had a couple of hiccups.

When I made my first comments about the Trust coaches, it wasn't intended as a major slagging off. What I have said was meant in a constructive way, like the pricing, the condition/comfort of the coaches. The subject of TZ having sponsor was a surprise, but surely the Trust can learn from that & do likewise. If by making it cheaper in these tough financial times & encouraging more fans to support the club, then the club benefit by the extra support.

Having travelled with the trust a few times, I have not found it a enjoyable experience, but that is a personal opinion. Having been to over 100 football grounds & most of them to watch Southend, I feel I speak with some authority on the subject!

Travelling on the Trust's coaches hasn't been the same since The Late One was no longer in charge of the organisation.:winking:

Well i heard it was a broken water pump, but maybe you are right and it was just that the horse needed a drink of water going over Saddleworth Moor!

Water seemed to be "pumping" through the roof :darkcloud: on Saturday ok (allegedly!!)

So the Trust hasn't transfered travel profit into the coffers in the past ??

I think you'd probably know the answer to that.......I repeat, if anyone has any direct questions they want an answer to, then use the features on the Trust website to do so.

So why did you personally put on here the following "I can assure you that there is no question of ample profits going into the coffers" in a earlier post if you are now not going to back up your statement ??? Instead asking people to contact the Trust via it's website ???

If the target is to break even over the year, would it not stand to reason that some years there's a loss to absorb and some years there's a profit to bank?

Because I think you've got me in enough trouble! And I think the operative word here is "going" not "gone".

So "any" previous profit or sponsorship should/could be carried forward to subsidise cheaper travel now, unless any previous profit/sponsorship has in fact been transfered into the Trust coffers (and forgotten about) - obviously OBL isn't "allowed" to comment :nope:

Wouldn't any profit be better off being kept aside to absorb any future travel losses? Otherwise any losses have to come out of the Trust coffers.

I don't know... it sounds like you know a lot more about this than I do but I'd have thought that if the Trust does make losses some years and profits others then keeping hold of the profits to cover future losses doesn't seem unreasonable. It's the sort of forward planning that the Club could probably do with.

But rather than banking the profit/sponsorship surely it should be ploughed back into the travel and used to make the cost of trips cheaper so that more fans can afford to get to games, along the lines of what TZ do.

There is no way that what started off as one person on his own (with a few "friends") and no experience should be able to undercut a organisation that had been in the travel business for over 10 years.

Being serious for a moment, who would travel on 20 year old coaches with nearly a million miles on the clock, leaking leaving wet seats, mechanically unsound & most importantly far more expensive than TZ. Maybe the extra fiver a head that the Trust charges a head compared to TZ is going into the emergency TefRon fund! If it wasn't for TZ (& SOL travel) charging a realistic fare, I wouldn't have gone to as many games as I have.

I know there are other attractions on the coach, food, drinks, friendly people & a bloody good quiz, but its the money that matters, not paying towards TefRons retirement fund!

:soapbox:

You are obviously paying a fiver premium for en-seat shower facilities
