Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Not sure of the contract he was on but this deal could be to make sure Oxford get a decent fee for him.

Would still be in the hunt I think if wanted, a League Two position would certainly be helpful in that respect!

Pity about Linney - probably out of our price range regardless of what division we are in next year but a man can dream.
Agreed, and at 28 probably not fitting our recruitment model.
That being said, we were in for Ollie Pearce last summer when he was the same age.

Wonder if we were ever interested in Linney and because the Play Offs we've missed out? Northern player so wouldn't expect him to come South but would of been a great signing

I was under the impression that James Goldings current contract that he signed two years ago was up to the end of the 26/27 season.

The news article makes it sound as though he's signed a one year deal as his contract expiring?

Carlisle have probably paid silly money for Linney who at 28 has very little re-sale value. It’s risky, but could be a good signing if he does the business. FGR threw money around last summer though in the hopes of getting back to the league first time of asking and the gamble didn’t pay off. Don’t mind them at all as a club, but still hope Carlisle get battered everywhere they go next season purely because of Mark Hughes’ arrogance in his cup final comments.
