Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Pepple is out of contract in the summer Tommy.

It will be really interesting what Chesterfield do. They are in the playoffs and may be promoted, he isn't ready for league 1. They also benched him a lot recently. He still managed 5 goals in 20 games though. Which isn't bad for his first attempt at that level. Also has bags of potential, at a very young age.
Pepple is a great shout, Bloomfield has already said he's not in his plans and rumours are he'd sell him for £150k? He clicked into a groove for us as he got more game time and we know he enjoyed his time with us

People need to remember the sustainability part and not lose sight of how close this club came to the end and why that happened. If this were 7 or 8 years ago, Ron probably wouldn’t have been able to throw £150k of the Wembley money at Luton fast enough. But I don’t think that’s us anymore. Some might be disappointed in who we end up signing, but I think the big underline is about finding value. I think we’re more about finding the next Gus, Golding, KAF, Cardwell, Pepple etc. these days rather than throwing money around. I’m all for it in fairness, as I never want us going back to those dark days.

A few years ago yes. Won’t fit our age profile now.
I do get the age profile part but I still think u need some experience among the team - yes we do have experience but u can’t beat the likes of players that have experienced promotions and know how to get u over the line when it matters

It’s no coincidence that Mellon was appointed to do such a job at Oldham and it was an old experienced head that ultimately turned the game on its head with the know how to leave three defenders out of his reach and keep his head to round the keeper and a lot home

Love the likes of Kendall but I feel he panics in that situation and takes the shot early or takes an extra touch to leave him with a lot to do

Exactly. There will be uproar on here if we dont pay a big chunk for a decent striker and then lose our first game of the season. Mark my words

What we want and what we get are completely different. So trying to be realistic
We could lose, GSM, HT, CAN & KAF (if we lose we need to replace with the same type of player)
We need goals from midfield & forwards (would need to be 1 in 1 out)
At least I'd like to move on Wood, Waldron & Gubbins.
So to have a squad need LB cover 2x CB's preferably a RW and ST

I agree with this to a point but I think we are going to have to get the cheque book out and a combination of signings. Pepple for £150k would be a steal

Don’t get me wrong, if we’ve got far more in the budget than we were expecting because of the Cardwell money, Wembley etc. I’m all for it. But absolutely not expecting it and we shouldn’t be robbing Peter to pay Paul for him if that money is earmarked elsewhere.

Absolutely support the sustainability approach but agree if there was a realistic chance to secure Bim for150k it has to be worth serious consideration. He certainly ticks the profile and definitely has the potential for a very good return on a future transfer fee, all hypothetical I know in Bim's case but the principle of such a move should not just be dismissed out of hand and I am sure it wouldn't be by COSU they just need to be sure it would be right for the Club in both the short and long term
