We have a settle squad, PB wanted to check who is staying with us or who is leaving before he can add more players in. Have anyone played FM game yet? If you rush out and signed the players and then run out of budgets, then you saw a decent player is available & realise you have no budget left to sign that player that make a big difference in mid table or go up.

I accept we have the nucleas of a reasonable squad, but only currently 11 signed players. That doesnt exactly feel settled to me, especially if we wanted a relatively small squad of 24, That suggests 10 more needing to sign. Perhaps to be fair the game FM is based on years of proper research, in which case i doff my cap. However having read , listened and watched numerous Managers since the end of the season espousing on their future plans, not one has said, you know what Im gonna leave it until pretty late to bolster my squad? Hence 75% of clubs in our league buying in 40 players alone in June so far?

I see the Kilted one isnt hanging about at Yeovil, hes already snaffled up 6 in June, including Marc Laird, you got to smile and enjoy his style> Wonder If Yeovil will struggle to settle or get off to a flyer?

I think Matty Taylor is now out of contract is he not? Hit 20 goals last season in the Conference for Bristol Rovers and is 25 years old so won't command a fee either. Would love us to have a look at getting him in. Maybe not as a first choice striker, but can't imagine he'd be massively expensive and would be a good option to have on the bench.

Have any of Brown's targets signed for another club yet?

Does anyone think Brown isn't aware that we need strikers?

As there are 8 other clubs that are yet to sign a player (that's 1/3 of the division) why is there a need to panic? Most players contracts aren't even up yet.

Pre season starts in a few weeks now. We need to show some intent and sign some league one standard players pronto and also make the most of our position close to London and be looking to loan some quality

I am not too worried but slightly concerned that we don't have a single first team striker at the club! Most clubs aim for four in their squads and we have zero. As others have said surely the best, out of contract strikers would have already been snapped up. No one would leave the best ones pondering.
Bury already had a good strike force, then signed Tom Pope and Leon Clarke early, we do seem to be a little slow on the uptake at times.
I am sure it will be alright in the end...

Not panicking yet, but the best teams know who exactly they want, get their business done early and then have a settled squad for the whole of pre season. Leaving them more prepared than everyone else. Chelsea were the prime example of this last season. I know we are not Chelsea and don't have their money and we probably have to wait till contracts run out etc.. But would like for us to get all our business done early so everyone gets a good preseason together.

Nobody should be worried until Tuesday June 30th at the absolute earliest. A lot of deals will be announced on this day. Some clubs don't like to make public their transfer dealings in certain circumstances until that date, sometimes out of respect for the club who is losing an out of contract player.

Yes most other clubs have completed transfers but I'd say 60-75% of the summer's transfer business will be concluded after the 30th June. There's no urgency before this date as players are still being paid by their current clubs, many are still on holiday etc. Once that date comes, you'll see much more alacrity especially as most if not all players/managers are back in the country.

Is this the case? If I were an agent I'd advise my best players to hold off agreeing terms. If there is demand from multiple clubs then you can drive up the price by waiting. The second you sign is the second you can no longer negotiate.

There is obviously a point at which this ceases to be the case - when squads are settled etc - but I don't think we're at that stage that.

Wow. Just wow. I need to sit down. I actually agree with this! There will come a point where, if we haven't signed anyone, then we need to start getting concerned, but I would say we're not at that point yet.

But the players themselves would. They won't sign until a deal is right, which means playing lots of clubs off against each other. That game has probably only just got started.

Funnily and unexpectedly my biggest concern at the moment is not that we haven't yet signed anyone but that we look more likely to lose members of our present squad than add to it.

I'm sure we could have signed 7 players too if we'd gone after people nobody else wanted. Players who have plenty of options will take their time. I'd rather go for the better ones to be honest.
