A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Interesting that Ron said one of our targets was due at the ground yesterday to negotiate terms, but "we were let down" - wonder which one that was? Murphy, Dunne, Bridge or one of the others?
Can’t believe it was Bridge he was pictured on the Bromley website in full training for the playoffs. I Also believe he will be offered a new contract, having been a regular member of the new Bromley’s managers team since his arrival.

Ah well. To be fair if he’s been in training with us for that long then we would’ve seen enough to know if he’s good enough. If he was I imagine we’d have brought him in.
Exactly this. He was dropped by Concord earlier in the season. Lots of people using a one-off worldie performance to back up claims that he's the next big thing. He's been training at the club for months and enough will have been seen of him in that time. The club chose not to go for it and he's ended up moving from one National League South club to another ??‍♂️

If all you had to go on was that Paul Smith performance against Brentford we would have been selling him for £50m to the Prem...

It seems that a number of zoners have convinced themselves that getting in a largish number of gnarley older pros is the way to go to jump straight back up. Put your faith in Phil in this regard

If only it was true and born out by the facts

But Lets not allow facts to impair the path of mythology

The game has moved on and whilst there is a sprinkling of course of successful older pros , it is mainly the 25 to 29 year olds that carry teams to success these days in this league. Youngsters very occasionally do it and just as rarely might a side geared with more seasoned pros, but very unlikely

Its a matter of balance

Walking away with it this year on 84 points and losing just 8 games, knocking in 72 goals was Sutton United

They retain an excellent academy, focus on a broad Managemnt group running the club, have a Womens team that has won promotion 3 years running, won Business of the year for their Community and have an acknowledged best all weather pitch in the country for academy players

Their best and consistent winning squad comprises of 8 players aged 25 to 29 and 2 24 year olds. We currently have 3 in this age group and are looking to sign 8 over 30
