A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Am I alone in thinking getting Hyde won’t happen? If it’s true that he is under contract at Halifax for another year, how are we going to persuade them to release him? Certainly can’t see us paying any money, unless something positive is happening behind the scenes that we don’t know about.
Ozzer, you are not alone. I have been puzzling about this since we learned of Southend's interest in Jake Hyde in late June. He is under contract to Halifax until June 2022. But some Halifax fans are absolutely convinced he is leaving and will not start the season with them. There are possibly four explanations. First, Hyde has some sort of release clause in his contract which can be triggered. Second, Southend and Halifax have a agreed a fee for a player that some Halifax supporters call injury prone. If Hyde is unsettled, and Halifax have another striker lined up, they might accept a nominal fee for him. But I am skeptical about that possibility. Third, Southend may be offering some players in some sort of exchange deal with Halifax. Again, that does not sound very likely. Fourth, Hyde and Halifax have agreed in principle to cancel his contract with the club by mutual consent. However, this also sounds unlikely.

Hopefully, we will find out more soon...

The squad is shaping up - he’s clearly looking to add some firepower on loan which will finish it off. I’m still surprised at how many we’ve retained, and wonder if we’re not finished yet. Also conscious that he’s gone for experience in a big way.

Or another club is attempting to seek Hyde out. Chesterfield & Stockport are closer to his current location.
