Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25 - Time to Cook 👨‍🍳

Transfer news
CP:
SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is still looking to add to his Shrimpers squad - but admits new signings are unlikely ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Boston United.

Maher is keen to bring in an attacking midfielder and a striker to help Blues become more of a threat in the final third after back to back draws.

However, the 47-year-old admitted there are currently no deals which are close to completion.

there is a massive delicate balancing act needed between going for promotion and hoping to get play offs etc. There are a few teams who are buying very well so for us stretching the budget a tiny bit to get two more key players in could be the difference between staying down and going up. Two key players could be Tshimanga and Moncur for example. That could then massively financially benefit us with the EFL Funding more than covering it.

Gary Neville giving a bit of an insight into transfers at Salford, which might give some people the heads up on some things.
Means we can fairly easily be outbid by other clubs due to our budget adherence.
Again....we are looking at many seasons in the NL because others will be outspending us. Sustainability a must and is the right thing to do of course but this should also be an expectation check for the fan base.

Spending loads of money, doesn't guarantee anything. Just remember we have a Stadium that only gained a Safety Certificate a couple of days before the season started. Parts of the Stadium are still unusable. Question of priorities of which a successful side is just one. COSU like us want promotion, but increasing the Income Stream is just as important. We lost almost the entire close season, which hasn't helped. Patience is needed.

What a load of nonsense my friend. We have a good budget at this level.

Chatting with a work colleague who is an O's fan. He said Moncur is on £4,500 a week and feels for that money at CAM he is not worth that much. Now this is league 1, so at our level he would be productive as long as we are only contributing a % towards his pay.
We need to stick to our pay structure and if his and the O's demands are beyond our means we should walk away.
I think if he is not in Orient's plans then getting game time and putting himself in the shop window would benefit them.

Who gives a s..t when we make a signing it will happen surely having a club to support is more important, the take over was only completed a short time ago
Can we please stop with the club was only taken over a few weeks ago.

I'm sure the scouting didn't stop all summer and when we lost some targets because we couldn't sign players further players would have been scouted to replace them. Maher would have know what the budget was going to be in place for the year and the new contracts would have taken this into account.

Now either those players on the famous white board don't want to come here, want to much money or terms can't be agreed etc but you can understand why people are concerned as to why only a couple have come in and I would guess the likes on Moncur wasn't on the board before the season started either.

Agreed, as i said many seasons in the NL incoming. Expense of stadium upkeep and renovation alone means years of reduced funds for playing squad, coupled with the wait for renovations to start bearing financial fruit which will be years. Again I'm not having a go as you said patience, years of patience.
