When I first watched Southend in the early sixties there was the midweek Combination League which was effectively the reserve side plus we were also in the Eastern Counties league which was always interesting to get first glimpse of promising youngsters as well as the occasional gnarled veteran who had dropped down the divisions. Plenty of opportunity for young players to develop in grown up football rather than youth teams.
 
i doubt it , a lot to do i would of thought just look at the bigger picture for now and be gratefull we still have a club
but saying that was there meant to be a few training with the first team

I can confirm this is true, as I know Jon and his dad. He wanted to stay in the summer was hanging on hoping the club would be sold to get a new deal but had to leave so signed for aveley which was part time and he was going to uni as well.

Yer I was round there with him today he had a little do with Justin Zak brunt and Harrison neale it was a little luck thing he put together … kept getting interrupted by that Phil the karate fella drop calling and banging at the door

We might not have announced anything yet but at least Kev and co have the option now. Deals will happen at some point. There’ll be plenty of players in our division that will have played against us and know we’re a couple of players away from being a really good side.

And players further down the pyramid looking to step up. We have John Still. Have faith.
