I think the thing to remember about Dackers is he is still only young, he's will get better with the right coaching. If Kev and Co think they can be the ones to do that then I back them fully to take up the option to sign him permanently, whether that's as a starter or back up. I back the management teams judgement

Unfortunately Yorkshire is so much nicer than Essex - not much cheaper any more but a much nicer quality of life especially if you have a young family.

I know which I would choose.
I don't disagree, but it's not always that simple. Some people might not hesitate to pick York when faced with such a choice, but others might have other things to consider. If you have a young family then you might not want to be moving 300 miles away from granparents/support network. Wife might not want to move away from friends.

All I'm saying is I don't personally think York is a clear winner over Southend.

I heard Daggers are also after him. May prefer that option as wouldnt have to move or not far at least

No man should want his kids to grow up as Northerners

Just a thought as the sale of the club isn’t fully completed yet are we still okay to announce our retained list ? Or do we have to want until deal is fully completed.

Fwiw, my take on Dackers:

He’s a young lad with some good attributes for now, and clearly has a lot of potential for the future. There’s a strong argument to suggest that if we have more or less the exact same squad next season, we’ll win enough points to qualify for the play-offs again, and then who knows. So clearly we’re not far away.

However, with most of our key assets already under contract, I see those out of contract as an opportunity to improve; particularly up-front, where we have potentially three or four players out of contract (including loans).

I wouldn’t mind having Dackers as our fourth-choice #9 (target-man) next season. However, I’d ideally like us to have three #9’s (Cardwell, Waldron and one other), and more of a second-striker/#10, instead.

So I think it depends what Kev’s vision is for the make-up of our strike-force next season. If he wants four proper #9’s, then I’m fine with having Dackers as an option. But if we go with three #9’s and a second-striker, then I don’t think Dackers is currently at the level required for a side aiming to be title challengers.

sounds way too sensible for me, won't ever catch on

I'd take Dackers all day long.

Won't be expensive wage wise and if he can get it to click, will be an absolute monster.

His ball carrying and everything bar shooting is sublime, id be tempted to drop him into centre midfield, but if he can find his scoring feet he could be phenomenal. Look at Barry Corr, Leon Constantine pre southend - both big lads but when it clicked ...wow.

Sure there were games for Marcus last year that were meh, but there were others where.he was like a 7ft Zidane,

I think we are at the stage where we know whats needed to get out of this league and whilst Dackers may come good i feel next season is crucial, we should be targeting top 2 and if so i personally would look at an other option with Dackers as a 4th choice like you mentioned
Good player at this level be we now need very very good players at this level to help achieve our target/objective - the amount of times Bridge puts the ball into dangerous area's would and should provide what we are looking for with the magic 20 a season to compliment Cardwell too

If we was to sign a really top goalscorer which I know is a bit of a dream but to then have Dackers as the 4th choice, I don't think anyone would object at all.
