Transfer news
Exactly, Che rarely made an error, was mobile, decent in the air, strong in the tackle and used the ball well. Limited in an attacking sense granted but a really good player for us.
It's strange how we look back with the memories of things being better - now Che was likely a better player than what we have now due to it being L1/2 standard v NL - but my vague memories of that time was that the group I attended matches with were generally unanimous at how crap he was

I don't think @Yorkshire Blue was suggesting he was a bad player for us, but simply using him as an example that not every player has to be from the league above in order for the team to gain promotion.
Thing is I didn't say that I think the players have to be from the league above, I said that to gain promotion the players need to be capable of playing in the league above.

For what it's worth, I think Che was a good full back, he didn't take any prisoners either. Would probably get plenty of red cards these days!

Gus/Wind?
I am in a quandary about them tbh. Gus I think is a little lacking in his defending, with many goals against coming from his position. I can't deny his goal scoring ability or passion though. George I like but I haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement, Same for Leon actually I am only 60/40 on him but have seen more of him than I have George Wind.

Don't worry too much, its Kev that decides.............

Wood, Waldron and Bonne to all depart on expiry of their contracts.
Kev will look to keep both Bridge and Ralph.
I'd be looking to move on Gubbins and Crowther and KAF.
Perhaps slightly unfair on KAF after a good performance on Tuesday, but I feel there's a need to make room for someone of better quality in that area of the pitch of we're to challenge for the top spots.
Kev's barely given him a sniff this season so I don't believe he's convinced he's going to be pushing for a starting spot either.
Of those still under contract, I want to be seeing a big improvement from Walker and more consistency from Husin.
Ollie Coker too needs a big season next year. His performance levels have fallen off a cliff during the second half of this season.
One of the most important signings for me will be who will be bought in to compete with Jack Bridge. We're desperate for someone with decent pace who can cross the ball without hesitation. Whoever plays up front needs to be fed with early crosses into the box which they can attack.
Keep KAF, serious player if given an opportunity. I’d also keep Bonne as he’s proven a handful with assists whilst not hitting the onion sack. He is still a proven goal scorer and could play higher than this division if he hits form

Strange how so many not to long ago when picking there team would say Coker was one of the first named on the team sheet ,now you all willing to write him off ,just young with potential and shown he can score goals . something our strikers cant do .only two strikers i would keep Kendall and Bonne cant decide with aldron has hasnt truly been given a chance this season ,

Bonne hasn't been a proven goal scorer for years, he is not go enough anymore and with Hopper here there's no need for two of the same. Even though he's better than Hopper. Better options will be out there in the summer.

We need two targetmen for sure.

Not sure Bonne is better.

Sign Regan Linney. That is all.

He can room with Gussy.
Regan Linney was apparently set to sign for Oldham for 150,000 in January but the move seemed to fall through. Apparently, Carlisle and Bromley remain very interested.

If Southend want Linney, it is going to cost them a lot of money. But Linney does look like a great finisher and at 27 probably has 2 or 3 peak goalscoring years ahead of him.

Target man yes but a striker who really knows how to score is essential also! None of our current strikers seems to have that. Been a long time since we had a true goalscorer at the club.
Had Bim stayed with us the whole season and he continued to score on a regular basis he surely would have ended up with fifteen or even twenty goals.
What is interesting to me is how long he lasted with us which was not very. I would imagine if in the future we sign anyone equally or more prolific it would not be very long before they were on their way.

At 27 (28 in May) he has likely peaked.

To give you some context Noor has just turned 28, Bridge was 28 going into this season, Cav is 29. These were our key players a year or two ago and now everyone wants them gone as they’ve dropped off. I’d be betting that Linney won’t get as many goals next season.

Let’s instead find the player about to breakout and have their career year.
