Transfer news
Why could that not be Nathan Ralph?

I've said nothing to suggest it couldn't.. seeing as you asked though I think in a system where your wingbacks are your main source of width, I think the role demands a lot on the player both in an attacking and defending sense. They've got to be able to get up and down the pitch the whole game, something I'm not sure Nathan given his age and injury history would be able to do on a consistant basis. Also, I think Kev prefers him as the LCB.

@ShrimperStats what are you thoughts on Richard Chin at Farnborough? Just seen some videos of him and he has got some ability on the ball. Has 6 goals this season too. Can play left midfield or left fullback.

Uncertain future - for on loan Southend United goalkeeper Nathan Harness (Image: Lucy Copsey)

By Chris Phillips. Chief sports reporter.

SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is planning talks around Nathan Harness' future with the club.

Harness' month long loan spell from MK Dons expires a week tomorrow.

And Maher must decide whether or not to keep hold of the goalkeeper after signing fellow shot-stopper Nick Hayes from Barnet this week.

"It's something we'll have to have a conversation with MK Dons about and Nathan as well," said Maher.

"Of course we needed to bring in another goalkeeper but we always want competition and that's a position we haven't really had that this season.

"It's important we got Nick in but we'll continue conversations with Nathan and MK Dons."

Hayes seems likely to start for the Shrimpers at Maidenhead United this weekend with Harness acting as back up as Collin Andeng Ndi is expected to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring issue.

Harness has made four appearances for Blues since signing.
