So Hayes didn't sign on Friday then?
That exactly what you do though isnt it with your own stuck recordI'll save Bury and Scunthorpe for when you bore everyone with the same stuck record about "look at everyone else" and how easy it is to sign 15 players in week.
Barnet, FGR, York, Oldham etc are paying higher wages than us. So any 10 year old would know they are likely to have more quantity and more quality.
And luck. Also in the right place to pick up a tap in from a rebound. We could do with a lucky player right now.Loved him when he was here, but genuinely forgot how good he was.
Tell me he’s not exactly what we need at the moment. Pace, power, skill, flair, work rate, movement, passing etc. He’d make the team play whether they wanted to or not.
Me personally? Yes, as I’d think I could do a better job as an overweight ex top Sunday league striker. If you want watched us Sat would you sign?
And Carlisle have used 41 different players this season, the most in the EFL. And they’re bottom of the EFL…Tranmere used 50 players in one season......The season they went out of the EFL.
We need to improve our 11 on the pitch. Not sign players 25-34 so they can be paid to sit in the East Blues on Match day.
is that loans all season or those currently at the club? off the top of my head we've had Harness, Jeacock, Moncur, Foran, Golding, Goodliffe, Pepple, which is more than FGR and only 2 fewer than your average. Same story as our permanent signings though in terms of impact - only Pepple (and arguably Golding) has been a clear success story.
not saying loans can't be a part of the answer but it needs to be the right profile - we definitely could have used a Lopata or a Harrison Neal this season!
People on this thread unfortunately forget that we are a NL team…he must have better EFL options… sad but true.. we are where we are ..Charlie Sayers released by Partick Thistle by mutual consent. I know he was one that left just as he broke into the squad very early in Kevs tenure (probably to pay a few bills as was still in Martins control). Could he do a job on the left.
I know we shouldn't just look at ex players but feel that he left due to financial constraints (we needed the cash) rather than he was crap
That's fair and I agree with you in principle - our squad isn't good enough that Kev has the luxury of not needing to look at any chance to improve it, including loans.I get your point that mathematically we have now made 7 loan signings , but much of the effort there has been around emergencies , especially in the goalkeeping department
Foran managed just 2 appearances on a short term loan, Jeacock 3, Harness another emergency short term, 3 so far, Moncur did manage 13 before being shipped out so 3 of those very short term emergency loans. Thats 4 loanees contributing 21 appearance in total for a start
Add in Gooding 5 games (urgently needed, Crowther out long term ) and now Goodliffe 2 games
Add that lot up and its a mere 28 games from 6 loanees or an average of 4.6 games each
Clearly Pepple was great and the best of the bunch maybe because we got him on a a season long loan and at least got in 19 games before being called back
How does that actually compare in any way with the planning and strategies deployed with the top sides with their well planned number of loans early season . many of course as season long loans not emergency desperation stuff
Surprised he is still a free agent, he looks a very decent player but I wonder what he is like off the field is he a good bloke who mixes well with the other lads, trains well and looks after himself etc. I know nothing about him so I am not saying he is a troublemaker but sometimes what you see on the pitch is not always the full story. We have taken a host of promising young players on loan in the window, the Cowleys like to trial before they buy I think we could have a very interesting end to our season. Not that I know many of you are interestedLoved him when he was here, but genuinely forgot how good he was.

Yes the trouble with that is you can easily lose your targets when word gets out they are available, we signed 4 players on deadline day so it can be done.Any other club would have it all done by now. But for some reason we seem to have things drag out longer than reasonably seems right.
Not a done deal if the selling club haven't agreed a fee, that's a pretty major component.I heard it was a done deal. Ie Hayes was keen on the move and had agreed terms and was also present at the ground Saturday.
I'm guessing the hold up is the fee that Barnet want and what we are willing to pay.
Corrected for you.We have taken a host of promising young players on loan in the window, the Cowleys like to trial before they buy I think we could have a very interesting end to our season. Not that I know any of you are interested.
Its long been said that Rangers and Glasgow are roughly Championship level with the majority of the Scottish Premiership teams being League 1 and League 2 qualityPeople on this thread unfortunately forget that we are a NL team…he must have better EFL options… sad but true.. we are where we are ..
Interesting insight into what sustainability means in the Scottish Chamionship. A squad of 20 inc 3 loans and 3 apprentices !Its long been said that Rangers and Glasgow are roughly Championship level with the majority of the Scottish Premiership teams being League 1 and League 2 quality
Partick Thistle playing in the Scottish Championship could be classed as a League 2 club (its only had a couple of forays into the Premiership which was spent mostly near the bottom half of the table.)
He left Partick Thistle on the 31/01/2025 and as yet is still unattached. He was understudy to Harry Milne who left Partick Thistle to go to Hearts shortly afterwards so if he had stayed would have got game time.
He signed a 3 year deal with them in August 2024 so had the majority of the contract to go which looks like due to budget constraints a few players had to leave.
Update from club chairman Richard Beastall – 4th February 2025 | Partick Thistle FC
The Partick Thistle Football Club Board, and I as Chairman, are very conscious that our supporters are raising concerns over the First Team playing squad and a number ofptfc.co.uk
I'm just saying we could do a lot worse than give him a cheeky call and ask him if he wants to train with us.
- Different owners
- Knows the management team (although the cross over was only 1 week or 2 at best)
- Good crowds for this level
- Still in with a chance of the Playoffs (some might say not but the gap is not insurmountable)
- Local (if he was home sick as some Thistle fans have alluded to)
Bim PeppleThat's an avenue that we don't exploit, and should do. It would be nice to get a bit of pace in the forward line, even if only for a few months.
