Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Rumours Etc part 2.....2024/25

Transfer news
Nice comments in our local press from Danny Cowley about Tom Hopper.
Meanwhile, Cowley has praised Hopper following his move to Southend United this week.

Hopper left the U's after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Cowley added: "Tom was coming out of contract this summer.

"For Nicky and I, it's always to have an honest conversation and we probably weren't going to extend Tom's contract.

"Whenever a player is coming out of contract and we're clear on that decision, it's always for us to have that honest conversation to explore the options the player has and what the player wants to do.

"The only thing that's certain in football is that it's going to be uncertain, so whenever I can give clarity to the player, I think this is important because human beings perform best when they have clarity.

"Tom had an option to go to Southend United which is something he wanted to explore and we gave him that opportunity.

"We're pleased for Tom, because he's a brilliant professional, an incredibly hard working boy, always team orientated and he does lots of things in the game that people don't always see.

"I only have the very best words for Tom Hopper - he's a great professional but he's an even better person."

Tragic that Collins hamstring damage is one of the long ones according to Kev. That suggests a grade 3 tear and up to 3 months out, Unusual in the sense that is his second hamstring injury, not so common for a Goalkeeper

It can be a problem if one hamstring goes its more likely repeat events will occur, Fortunately he is otherwise a fit youngster, so hopefully wont be a longer term issue

In the meantime we are trying to get another keeper in before tomorrow apparently , wonder if something might be announced later today?

What's even more tragic is he done his original injury preventing a goal because of a pathetic back pass which should've been played away from goal.

Announce Demi

Someone spoke recently of a Chelmsford City player 80% of signing. Any idea who the player was and/or if they still have a chance of joining us ? Interested from Wickford 🙂

I said this a few days ago. We've been searching for a box to box attacking midfielder for a while. But we've now signed one, so this probably won't happen. But I never said 80%.

I know they are watching Kane Crichlow, an attacking midfielder from up the road Chelmsford. Looking it up just now, he started at Watford, but was let go. He has 4 goals and 3 assists this season from midfield in 19 games.
This is just one of so many that John Still and his team of scouts are watching. Normally, the signings are a name not been mentioned.
