Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Rumours Etc part 2.....2024/25

Transfer news
Colchester centre back Ben Goodliffe being rumoured from their side
Just a fans guess I think although it is a possibility, we only signed him this season from Sutton where he had played 225 games in 5 years, still only 25 years old. He scored 2 goals in our 1st game at Wimbledon but then suffered a very nasty facial injury that needed surgery. He has only played 11 games for us as others have been doing well and we have just signed another central defender after losing Aaron Donnelly back to Forest.

Some clarity from the club would be helpful
No it wouldn't. Seriously, this is a rumour being posted on social media by someone with a made up name and because loads of our fans are sitting pressing F5 with nothing better to do, it seems to have got traction.

It is not the club's problem that people are wetting their pants about something that has, as far as we know, absolutely no substance whatsoever.

You can't demand a statement to rebut every silly nonsense on social media, nothing would ever get done.

Agree - although I initially did get exercised. Our transfer activity is funereal even by the most generous measure. Tumbleweed as far as the eye can see. But we need to remember everything we said about just having a club and next season is clearly the focus. Not giving up entirely on this season- but let’s be honest, not even the widest fantasist would say we are throwing money at it…

We don’t want to lock this thread - again - but it’s absolutely heading that way.

We all appreciate that discussions and debates have a tendency to evolve and digress, but this is a transfer rumour thread.

There are other threads to discuss Kev, COSU, sustainability, club statements etc etc etc.

SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is still trying to add to his Shrimpers squad.

Blues remain in talks with Colchester United striker Tom Hopper plus a defender over a loan deal from a League Two side.
At least two other targets have also been identified and work is being done on the deals.

“We’re trying and we’d like to do so business,” said Maher.

“Whether that happens before the weekend I don’t know but there are things ongoing.

“Fingers crossed we can but it’s not always as easy as you want it to be, especially the later it gets in January as well.”

Blues head to Dagenham & Redbridge this weekend looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Barnet.

And Maher is determined to get back to winning ways despite not regarding the contest as much of a local derby.

“I don’t think it’s huge in terms of a derby game but we want to win the game,” said Maher.

“We want points on the board but whoever we were playing this weekend that would be the case.

“It’s been a really positive week but now we want the three points and that’s the main message for us.”
